In every case it's too late to be vaccinated.  A vaccine trains the immune system to recognise a pathogen and to mount a response to it.  It can never act as a therapeutic intervention.

I got the impression from the way he was talking that a lot of folks seemed to think that all they had to do was get the vaccine and they'd get better, but as we all know it doesn't work that way.

Stupid = being old, taking a vaccine and going on holiday, catching covid and being really unwell

Not stupid = being old, not taking the vaccine because you've listened to anti vaxx conspiracy bull****, then catching covid and dying. But it doesn't matter because he was 74 and probably should be dead anyway.

It is when he was clearly trying to shrug off this death as being no biggie because he was 74. Not the first time he's done this.

Wow...

That is one massive pile of schadenfreude. Just as well these people have the moral high-ground, meaning they're 100% safe from the otherwise vengeful spokes of the karmic wheel.

How true !

As the great old saying goes “ you ain’t off the face of the earth yourself “  some need to think about that !

Whilst it's sad, as is every death, if we didn't shrug off strangers over 70 dying we'd live a very hard life given how common an occurrence it is.

The whole "X person made Y choice so their Covid death was their own fault" is unsavoury though, I agree with that. That said, I'm not bothered by it particularly as apart from those who contracted it in institutions (care homes/hospitals etc) then it applies to literally everyone who catches it.

Now your twisting and distorting my comments yet again. ! I said the 74 years old had made his own choices . He had that right . He had lived long enough to do this . I spoke in reverence and almost admiration of him . Stop virtual signalling yet again. . It’s boring now . You ain’t no saint .

They don't really annoy me to the point I'd call it vile, but I don't really like the tacit "got what you deserved" type of feeling those articles etc have.

That could equally be applied to the post you made about the couple of the cruise ship though. That said, he's got a cheek wanting a refund...they must have known there was a good chance they or someone else on the ship would catch it and yet chose to go anyway.

Seems that the SG is preparing for the possibility of doing a U turn on testing on arrival from abroad.

NS acknowledged the contrasting positions of detecting new variants against the economic damage of diverging from the English travel requirements and said that a decision will be taken in the next couple of days.

Edit @Lord BJ beat me to it.

Cautiously optimistic, it will be relaxed up here, which would be very good news for us returning to foreign travel.

She'll have to get in line with England. There's no Scottish border force

Deary deary me indeed! Just following the UK trend on vaccinations at the moment.

We don't have UK figures for today, as yet, but just yesterday, Scotland reported administering 8.41% of all the UK doses for the previous day, which is in excess of its 8.15% population share.

October break in Tenerife booked on the back of the change in rules in England. Couldn’t see any way she wouldn’t follow suit eventually. Sounds like she is preparing for exactly that.

What should the SG be doing that it is not already doing to increase vaccinations?

It is a matter of personal choice if someone wishes to be vaccinated, is it not?

It is, but there should be consequences. It's mostly these "personal choicers" are keeping the fekin thing raging over here.

Where does a roasting stop and self immolation begin?

He's responsible for more of the latter than the former.

That may be so, but it's always James who's circled upon whilst others makes unsavoury posts and it's just glossed over.

I mean this is the perfect example, no? Hours later when the thread has well moved on and it's bumped back for another pop at him. Just feels harsh to me but he's more than capable of sticking up for himself so I'll leave keep my nose out of it now.

Perhaps the posts that he makes, to knowingly wind others up IMO, may be the root cause of the issue.

There's very much a 'fly with the craws' about all this I'm afraid.

As it goes I responded to a post you made, not James.

I've no interest in 'piling on' to anyone but will respond to posts that are blatantly bullshit and in the case of the pandemic, quite often dangerous bullshit.

It doesn't really matter who you were replying to, you were taking a pop at him hours after the moment had long since gone. What was the point of that? What dangerous bullshit where you highlighting in doing so? Whether James is posting to get a rise or not, nothing he posted was dangerous bullshit. So if not piling on and taking a swipe, what was the benefit of your post hours later? The post James made that triggered it all was factual and inoffensive ("he was 74" (paraphrased)).

As for the bit in bold, there's endless posts on here looking to get a rise from people. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes they don't, but only one person gets roundly buffeted for hours afterwards.

And you don’t knowingly “ wind up “ others ? Accusing me of this . If my views “ wind up “ people there’s their issue . It’s not my intention to do that I’m not responsible for how they react . They need to own that .

And Who the hell do you think you are? Seriously . Your Sanctimony is Breath  taking at times .  Posts that are “ Dangerous bullshit “ what are you on ??? Seriously 😒

This thread, is rarely about COVID nowadays. A shame, as I enjoyed many of the discussions and found it quite a useful source for info.

Nowadays, it’s mainly about those with the most fragile egos showing us how triggered they are. Pettiness and bitterness is never a good look, yet many people, as this thread is proving love to indulge in it.

Yes “ ray gin “ certainly has a fragile ego on this and started the ball rolling today.

Let's move on and get back on topic. What can be said is we could all do without making provocative posts we know will get a rise from others.

@Lord BJ summed it up perfectly really. So let's draw a line under it 👍

We'll leave this here I think.
