So Westminster didn't spunk OUR money away on failed Track & Trace, failed PPE procurement, the sobering costs of the customs debacle post Brexit etc etc etc. Yeah, sure.

I'll ignore your latest bout of ad hominems except to point out in response that, if we are talking about paranoia and defining identity via some "white line" - well, Enzo, you certainly seem to become rather unhinged when anyone posts something that reminds you that Scotland is a nation in its own right, one of the oldest in Europe. I get that this might get in the way of your craven supplication to Queen and country, but them's the facts, perhaps one day you might come to terms with that.

What a pile of self-entitled tosh.

What about Scotland's failed PPE procurement and Track & Trace schemes.?? The NHS in Scotland is fully devolved so any money that was "spunked' away waa OUR responsibility. England's Track & Trace scheme was feck all to do with Scotland.

The blame WM  for everything culture is nauseating and it's well past the time that you and the other swivel eyed fanatics start holding SG responsible for the myriad catastrophes and shambolic governance that is happening HERE.

Sturgeon should be down on one knee thanking the UK Gov for furlough, Barnett and the vaccinations that saved thousands of jobs and lives.

Again...

Furlough was funded via UK borrowing.  All UK taxpayers will be contributing towards repaying the borrowing over many years.  Furlough was not a net budgetary sum given to Scotland similar to any fiscal deficit resulting from the Barnett formula.  Scotland does receive a net annual surplus through Barnett but furlough was a UK wide scheme that will be paid for by everyone throughout the UK.

Rabid Uncle Tam lies will not convince anyone otherwise.

Tougher restrictions perhaps but thats not the same as being fully locked down.

We haven't been locked down for several months which is a bit weird if Sturgeon wants us to be locked down forever.

Yeah, because no other country on earth provided financial support or procured vaccines or delivered a faster vaccination rate.* 🙄

*footnote: The UK's "world-beating" vaccination program is 14th in the world (% of population vaccinated as at 16/09/21).

Looks like it may have been an easy cop out for docs rather than getting to the bottom of things. This years "take the antibiotics for a virus" type diagnosis.

Who knows?

Oh Quelle surprise again ! Pulling sickies ? Never

I’m sure you’ll be all smiles after the next Indy vote , whereas it’ll be tears and snooters from the usual suspects . I’m in the position of not caring really which way the vote goes . However my previous passion for independence is at breaking point really .

:D Where do I start. Spaghetti data. Ignore the new cases, tests and (more or less) positivity figures - they're effectively meaningless as they don't refer to a proper 24-hour period. The 5,885 figure for the last 48 hours is good news though. The vaccination figures weren't updated yesterday so ignore them too if you're looking for day-on-day comparisons. You're good to go with the deaths and hospitalisations. How I incorporate the info into my data, I have no idea.

Scottish numbers: 17 September 2021

Summary

  • 5,529* new cases of COVID-19 reported
  • 60,077* new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
    • 9.9%* of these were positive
  • 30 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive [+4]
  • 87 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19 [-7]
  • 1,037 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19 [-17]
  • 4,150,157 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,798,938 have received their second dose

* The technical issues that prevented publication of yesterday’s confirmed COVID-19 cases and test positivity have now been resolved. The daily update above reflects the records processed by Public Health Scotland in the last 24 hours. Since the last update on 15 September (approximately 48 hour period) there have been 5,885 new confirmed positive cases.

Not bad.  Would like to see that % rate taking a dive though.  It's still hovering.

Ok,  resume hostilities.

I would go further than that. 5,885 cases, if that is correct, over two days is extremely good. The equivalent for the same two-day period a week ago was 13,651. If I were a sceptic, I would assume that there has been some unrecovered data loss somewhere. That sort of rate of reduction is pretty unheard of.

The total is good on the face of it.  The rate seems to be stubborn around 10%.  Presumably the rate is more indicative as number of tests is bound to fluctuate.

The latest trend stats. Some assumptions have been made, extrapolations enacted, and colour code calculations averaged. And all because PHS can't get its data systems sorted out to be consistent and resilient. I still think there is missing data - that drop in cases and tests, especially during the week, is very unlikely. But it is what it is. We'll see in the days to come what the real situation is.

Really hope that is accurate, significant move in the right direction.

Looks like the peak is over and good to see hospital and icu numbers coming down.

We were in town for lunch then took a wee walk about . The the other half got asked “ where’s yer mask ? “ by a rather brave security guy  at a the St James Quarter ! He replied it’s an open air space so completely unnecessary  to “ muzzle up “ . So he walked in , he didn’t sashay in as he’s ex military and they don’t do that kind of thing ! ( well no in public really 😂

It was also great to see a massive queue at west Princes street gardens . There is a “ rave “ of some sort on and it’s packed with young people who seemed to be having a great time . They bloody deserve it after a tray and a half of sacrificing and bring scare goated and blamed by various sections of the public / media / Govt

Nucky Thompson

PCR tests for return to the UK scrapped and the 2nd day PCR test replaced with a lateral flow for fully vaccinated people returning to the UK from non red list countries.

Happy days

All you've got to say is 'I'm exempt' and they can't challenge you or make you prove it.

I've been done with them since the UK government said so.

It's good to see the youngsters enjoying themselves

Aye I know, but Scotland have been sticking to the same rules this whole time.

Well I hope they do ! Not all rules though !

I was on a train yesterday coming from down south and it was a bit farcical when the guy came on to say it was now mandatory to put a mask on as the train crossed the border !

Yup. I'm still expecting them to tell you to mask up when boarding a plane in Scotland.

There might be a couple of Tornados escorting you out of Scottish air space :biggrin2:

I think there is now Long Covid Pandemic in this thread now. I’m sure there must be a vaccine or face mask that can help💉😷

Oh the boys might well recover from Covid but they'll never recover from the reaming they've taken from Sturgeon and the SNP over the last 18 months.

They're broken. Utterly shattered.
