Totally agree with all you've written. I'd maybe even go 9/10!

👍 Has certainly opened up the character for further films in the same vein.

Ocean's 11 (2001)

All-star remake of the classic 1960 Rat Pack heist film.

George Clooney and Brad Pitt share top billing, with Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia and Matt Damon alongside many others also playing prominent roles.

11 multi-talented thieves join up to rob a casino in Las Vegas.

Snappy dialogue, snappy editing and a snappy soundtrack combine to make an entertaining production.

8/10

Ocean's 12 (2004)
The gang are back in this bloated, self-referential and meta-referencing sequel.

Julia Roberts joins the gang as they desperately try to pull off a series of heists across Europe in order to pay back the guy they stole all the money from in the first movie.

Catherine Zeta Jones joins the cast as a Europol detective who is overly obsessed with her job.

I'm sure the cast had a blast making this but it's all just a bit too smug and up its own arse to be enjoyable.

5/10

Ocean's 13 (2007)

Back in Vegas, one of the gang is betrayed by a ruthless business partner (Al Pacino) and suffers a near-fatal heart attack.
The gang vow revenge and plan another elaborate heist to rob Al Pacino's casino.

I'm not quite sure why they needed 13 people for this; some of them barely had anything to do and you can tell the writers were struggling to provide a role for everyone.
The film returns to the snappy dialogue, editing and soundtrack of the first film but feels like a cash-grab re-make of the first film rather than a return to form for the series.
6.5/10

Saltburn, 6/10

Nerdy guy goes ro Oxford and befriends aristocratic guys, one of whom takes a shine to him and feels sorry for him so invites him to his families sprawling estate and home, Saltburn.  Cue some unhealthy obsession from the nerd and a desire to engraciate himself into the family fold. Not bad but  not great either

I thought it was fantastic . Brilliant . Clever storyline and what a twist. Superb performances and really biting humour . “ anything for attention” ( says by Roselind  pike about another character who tops herself ) 😎 it was very much in vein of Patricia Highsmith type thrillers , hence me loving it . The couple of gross out scenes were more funny than disturbing I felt . 9/10 from me .

Don't get me wrong ,it was very watchable and the twist was inventive, and like u I was more amused than repulsed and horrified by those 2 specific scenes. The lead was excellent,  as was Richard e grant and pike.

Sometimes a film comes along at just the right moment for you. It's time to switch your brain off, sit back and enjoy some over the top characters. A fair amount of drink may have clouded my judgement but there is one scene with Ken in the car that had me greeting with laughter, to the extend that the mrs told me to calm down.

I don’t know why Gervais does stand up. It’s not his forte. Man’s a genius at black sit/com though

Agree and I'm a big Gervais fan. Just lots of material trying to be shocking and controversial without actually being funny. Very disappointing.

Excellent thriller about 2 kids who go missing. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman and Paul Dano. I'd already seen it but had forgotten just enough to enjoy it just as much on 2nd viewing.

I know a few others have mentioned it, but watched The Creator on Prime last night and quite enjoyed it. It doesn't do or say anything new really, but it's well made even if a little derivative of other sci-fi films.

Yesterday (BBCI)

Really enjoyable romp of a struggling singer who ends up in a parallel universe where the The Beatles never existed.

Really well put together by Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis.

Ed Sheering even comes out smelling of roses.

A young Willy travels to a town to pursue his dream.

Great cast playing to their strengths. Visually superb. Clever dialogue and lyrics in songs (written by Neil Hannon of Divine Comedy fame).

One that all ages will enjoy. 👍

Took my daughter to see this today, I had no idea it was of the musical persuasion and thought I'd hate it but it was thoroughly enchanting and magical, heartwarming and very entertaining. A 8.5/10 from me

Freelance on Amazon Prime. Standard John ace an adventure fare but good fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Retired soldier in a dull everyday life gets an offer to do an easy bodyguard job for a journalist going to South America to interview a dictator and predictably it goes wrong. Helped hugely by the presence of the lovely Alison Bree.

Fancied some brainless nonsense so watched Expendables 4.
Oh boy did it fill the brief. The first few minutes you’re thinking wow they’ve really cut back on the decent CGI. Then you find out why, it’s all gone on the make up budget for Megan Fox. Ok so she can’t really act and is there for eye candy if that’s your sort of thing. But it’s hard to get why this supposed elite soldier spends the entire film in make up that is more suited to an instagram model on a night out in Essex.

It's a great movie and a really good book. Whether it's as true as claimed had been widely disputed to the point where the author refused to discuss it again, not surprisingly.

To highlight when the US bailed out, they left all the interpretars to the mercy of the Taliban, despite promising them US visas.
