Played with my mate at Greenburn last year, he was battering the feck out his bag with the club on the way round, we got to the end and were heading into the clubhouse, he puts his hand in the bag to get his phone, a 7 day old iPhone was pulled out and it looked like it had been left on the M8 for an hour. Paired with a guy yesterday who did not shut the **** up for the full 18 holes, made it impossible to focus on my game, and by the time we got to the back 9 I was totally exhausted. Wasn't a hissy fit, just bent my club like a bullworker. My mates were pissing themselves. A bounce game between us. Don't usually play with other folk unless it's an open. Inconsistency got the better of me that day, the lads understood, they've seen the inconsistency for the the last month, we all laughed and I got some 3 wood and 3 iron practice. Had an 88 on the Saturday, poor but good enough for a place in the 8 qualifying spots. Thinking 91 would be good enough on the Sunday to qualify. Turns out 93 would be enough. What did I do? My problems when I go above that, is chasing scores and going for things that aren’t there. But I’d get bored playing sensible golf all the time and enjoy having fun more. Going for Eagles rather than pats, going for the impossible rather than the sensible. Had lots of comments after rounds about shots I’ve thrown away or what I should have done.
