Exactly what I said out loud.

Severely unlucky.

unlucky but had to score

Thats the sort of chance that may make clark think twice about playing him ahead of dykes and the che adams. He should be putting that away.

To be fair, I don't think Adams or Dykes is even getting that close

Not 'unlucky', just a poor finish.

Yeah

He needed to score that, that probably killed his chances of starting at the Euros

credit the goalie for narrowing the angle.

How can he narrow the angle in the middle?

Shocking miss.

He should but you wouldn't bet on either of them in that position.

If he score that hes on fire for next 3 friendlies :(

Needs to not let it bother him. Easier said than done when chances so thin at this level.

I have seen enough tonight to not absolutely shit my pants when the Euros start. We can go and compete as hard as it will be.

Dykes and Adams likely wouldn't have put it away either, they're not exactly clinical in front of goal, but you'd expect Shankland to bury going by the ones he scores for us.

I agree and we really could have scored a goal or 2.

Shame for shanks there, had to score:jj_facepalm:

The goalie did well, the mark of a good striker is sometimes how many opportunities he misses as well as scores, paradoxical as that may seem.

Does Che Adams score that though?

Doubtful, but hes not on outside trying to barge his way in.

Think Shanks is about to come off. A more than decent shift where he contributed plenty. So gutting he never buried the chance when it arrived as I genuinely think he could have secured a starting spot had that ended up in the onion bag. Big big miss at this level.

It doesn’t matter. That should have been buried.

Shankland off.

There's the excuse not to start him in future games for the doubters.

He been subbed but has played well. He will be kicking himself.

Shankland should be really happy with his overall performance tonight. Offers much more than Dykes for example. You can't compare to Adams.

Coaches are mainly looking at being in the right position to get the chance.

It was still a good performance.

What is the point of carrying 4 goalies for friendlies if you’re not going to give them a half each over the two games.

Shank has been in the game alot more than adams and dykes usually are for Scotland, for me. Gutted he’s missed that. Licking his lips as he took the shot anaw, few more starts and the goals will start tae flow

Yes. Being in the right position. His best chance was the pass he didn't get when he was in space.

At the end of the day he got a start, played pretty well but blew it when the big moment arrived. Don’t think he did himself any harm this evening in fact I thought he contributed well but what an opportunity to underline his credentials he passed up. That he’ll still have doubters is on him nobody else!
