maroondevo52
Unite members at Royal mail are not going on strike they are not party to this dispute. Royal Mail has made no secret of it's intentions to use other employees to minimise the impact of the upcoming CWU industrial action. The Unite Union condemns this deliberate policy of setting one group of employees against another, the CWU is duty bound to do everything in their power to support their members legitimate grievances over pay and Unite supports their endeavours to do so. Royal Mail's strike breaking plan is not backed by Unite.

They will join journalists at sister outlets including the Daily Mirror, the Daily Star and dozens of local newspapers in striking on Friday. It marks the start of a month of industrial action designed to disrupt production at the news outlets, which are all owned by publishing giant Reach. Although one journalist at the titles acknowledged that a rightwing anti-union newspaper going on strike is a “satirist’s dream”, they insisted there is solidarity between unionised staff across all of Reach’s titles, regardless of their political stance. Members of the National Union of Journalists voted to go on strike after rejecting bosses’ offer of a 3% pay rise as not enough to cope with the cost of living crisis.' Jambo-Jimbo
The list of workers planning on going on strike grows by the day, the government surely must realise that it's not simply a case of a few lefty militant unions, but a much wider issue of genuine fear and despair of not having a enough money to live on. When your on £82k+ a year it's easy to not be concerned about rising inflation, fuel & energy prices, and say what 'cost of living crisis', all you need to do is get a better paid job, work more hours or switch to shop's own brands, it's that simple, and that shows how completely out of touch they are.
