Oral Surgeon/Dental Surgeon one and the same no? All the dentists at my practice in Barnton are Dental Surgeons so fairly common in the profession would be my guess. But that piece of paper from his online course from Harvard (similar to doing an MBA from there in practice I suppose) is the important thing it appears. Thing is you get people with walls papered with degrees who are academically excellent but just cannot perform in the operational/front line side of things. All that training just to push paper around.

Are you one of those types who put "School of hard knocks" / "University of life" on their Facebook profile?

An oral surgeon is much more specialised than a dental surgeon.  It requires more study than the 7 years it takes to be a dentist and plenty more ‘bits of paper’.

(“Dentist”, “dental surgeon” and “dental practitioner” are all the same thing)

 Not on facebook. This is the only unsocial media platform I'm on (well this and RAWK). In answer to your question no as I have encountered many professionals who were academically excellent but virtually inept in actually doing the job.

So you were making an assumption.

And I didn’t make a comment. I merely reflected.

Keep trying though. :whistling:

This is what you said Bestowed by the Saltire Society. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!! That's not a reflection, it's a comment. You are inviting others to question the value of Leitch's award because it came from The Saltire Society. You clearly have no knowledge of this organisation but implied that because it had saltire in it's name it would not be of much if any value because it was likely to be biased.

Now that is an assumption but it is a reasonable assumption and just in case you meant something else i asked you what your comment did mean. You have been unable to offer a reasonable answer so far. I don't think you can and fully expect a derogatory comment. That's an assumption too but like the other point it is justified based on our previous conversations.

You seem to make sweeping assumptions without a scrap of evidence.

If my assumption is wrong tell us what you did mean, what's wrong with that?

So he trains as a maxillofacial surgeon and even becomes an FRCS on the back of it but jacks to push paper. That doesn't concern you?

Don't agree. Lots of people who appear on the podium are poor to dreadful speakers with varying degrees of understanding. That does not apply to Leitch or Sturgeon IMO.

To change tack then, Nick Griffin went to Cambridge! The point being, plenty daft ***** have went to good universities. I’ve no idea whether Leitch is a daft ***** or not but I’d focus more on his achievements than his degree.

TBF this is the doctor who had to be corrected on how cannabis swab tests work by some prick who likes a joint, you can see why he's wary of people with relevant degrees.

How many countries around the world apart from unsurprisingly China (I still believe they manufactured this virus) have a handle on this pandemic.

My issue with Leitch is that he gives the impression that he is living the dream right now, cometh the hour cometh the man.

Absolutely exemplified by his acceptance of an award whilst folk are seriously ill, dying and losing livelihoods all over the country.

Meanwhile Jason is over the moon to be honoured for doing his well paid job.

Read the room Jason.

Pity they didn't teach that at Harvard.

Just to clarify - you have more respect for Dentists who stay purely as Dentists rather than ones that go on to get multiple doctorates, fellowships and a position as the national director for healthcare?

To be fair, I have little respect for dentists anyway- but yes.

much respect for clinical staff over your office jockeys for sure.

Only the third highest ranked University in the world right enough.

Maybe in the top 3 best funded universities in the world? It will I suspect be well up there. i do find  '"went to Harvard" or indeed to any other top rated University being IN ITSELF a measure of academic success and qualification more than a bit snobbish and misplaced. "Went to Oxford" certainly doesn't elevate my.opinion of the competence of our Prime Minister.

I am not commenting on Leitch's competence in his current role because I have no idea. Like most of us

Some oddball chat going on here about "the dentist".

FWIW I don't care who appointed him, who he votes for, how many bits of paper he has or which uni he got them from - but he's a very big asset to Sturgeon at this time due to the very clear info & reasoning he provides at the briefings and in interviews.   Definitely one of the more impressive medical guys in the public eye.     Another top guy is Chris Smith, the Cambridge Uni virologist - again, very informative and clear answers in interviews.

Politicians,   on the other hand ......🙄

Was it Swinney or Leitch that alluded that the public knows that a packet doesn't constitute a main meal?

correct, they are in there element!

Sitting for years thinking... if i was in charge... if i was in charge (instead of adding a tartan bow to regs).

They've always wanted that crisis "to take charge" & stand behind the lectern & big flag  Hence the daily sturgeon show.

And at the other end of the scale politicians like freeman & ferrier get to keep their job.

You tried to correct me that swab tests don't test for contact traces and were wrong, they react to decarboxylated THC and not it's metabolites. My work use the same ones as the police btw.

Can you show me something that shows swab tests react to THC metabolites?

No more or less than those in this country, TBH.

It's like when we sit back and mock foreign football associations. This past summer's antics from Doncaster have proven that Scotland is far from immune from corruption and skullduggery. Just because our leaders don't have strange foreign names doesn't mean they're not at it.

Yes we have our faults, both in Scotland and the Uk as a whole but we haven’t had the same president since 1990 and our leader can’t issue decrees that become law for an unspecified amount of time. Belarus, as a country, is a bit of a sham.
