Common sense trumps the scaremongering psychological war that @scotgov is waging on the population. Sanitise your hands, wear a mask in enclosed spaces, socially distance where possible and adhere to the rules in hospitality settings. That's all you need to follow. Any other restrictions are tyrannical

But there are laws in place now about going into other people’s houses and the rule of 6 - these MUST be followed

Yes, but closing hospitality etc would be madness and economically suicidal for no reason

But they are utterly illogial and the number 6 has been plucked out of thin air.

There is no science behind it at all.

As for the "not going into each others houses" - well, its utter guff too. My 3 kids are at school all day with their pals, play hockey with them at the weekend, but then cannot give their friend a lift home, or have them back to the house.

You can tell Auld Icy Clunge has no kids

It's not utter guff, it's where the vast, vast majority of cases are being transmitted.

According to a University of Delhi study, you have an 80% chance of catching Covid while sharing public transport on a long journey,  only 10% in a household setting and 2.5% while shopping.  Hospitality probably represents a miniscule chance too.

The NHS guidance on the long-term effects of Covid-19

NO offence to them, but its a generalisation.

Its describing problems suffered by patients ventilated in ICU- no matter the reasons admitted.

"occuring in up to 12 %"

so that could be anything from 0% to 11.9 %

pretty embarassingly vague

especially as, well, most patients admitted to hospital with COVID are elderly or have other issues, so not sure what their cariac status was preadmission.

That may be true for Delhi but in the UK, over 80% of the cases were transmitted in people's homes. (this was in a government report I posted several pages back that I can't be arsed trawling back for)

You’d think with this huge second wave that we are being told about my daughter who works at the Covid hub in the western wouldn’t have had her days cut from 3 to 2 because they aren’t busy enough!!

something doesn’t add up.

Which one? Cineworld just closed all theirs!

Catch-22 situation - film makers are stalling releasing big films until they can guarantee to pack out cinemas.  Cinemas aren't going to get any punters until there are films worth watching and they feel safe to go there.

Sure but the 692 folk will have likely passed that on to another 700+ people who then pass it on further...that's how exponential growth works. Eventually you end up with hospitals full again.

Lockdown from Saturday until Sunday 25th. Announced tomorrow. Alledgedly.

Jason Leitch now tells us that having a circuit breaker may buy us some time, but it isn't an exact science as to how much time. FFS, all we ever hear is 'we are following the science', and now we are told, as most suspected, that they don't have science and it is just a complete and utter panic measure made by bureaucrats who are desperate to protect themselves and their political masters.

Meanwhile, Boris wants us all to go to the cinema. ****ing useless, the whole lot of them.

They are just kicking the can down the road.

I’m very suspicious of this. Considering the infections rates were will lower than the Whitty / Valence “ predictions “ several weeks ago it just Makes me wonder they are at it

Is this because they are inventing cases to justify their predictions or are they just jealous that other countries have higher rates?

The University was in Delhi but it was  looking at cases worldwide. They were assessing risk factors, so you have a 10% chance of catching it if you share a home with an infected person.

Oh well, another few thousand jobs to be added to the total number that will be lost. Still as long as Jason, Nicola, Boris and the rest of them can carry on trousering cash, don't suppose they are that bothered. Let's sacrifice future of thousands cause of a 0.003 percentage chance.

Having a 12 year old from your school class and hockey team you spend 7 hours a day with, and get the bus home with , round for dinner is not the cause of mass covid transmission.

I'd love to see the science behind it......because it seems to me like a ridiculous and draconian measure from a government who simply dont have a feckin clue what they are doing

Yes, nailed it. I hope any attempt to close hospitality would be met by widespread defiance by the industry and a refusal by the UK govt to provide any more funding to Sturgeon. "Stay Open to Save Jobs"

Buy us time till they can think of another reason to carry on as they are doing. They have no idea what to do, the scientific advisers have no idea what to do, so instead of sheltering those at risk, they simply go for economic suicide. Well apart from the scientific researchers and analysts, who will be raking in the cash. You seriously think they want this to end?

Fwiw Doc, I always stand by the principle that you only have a drink problem if you consume more than your GP. I am assuming that you are a moderate/social drinker, like myself 👍😂

You can guarantee if these lockdowns were putting these so called scientists jobs in jeopardy and also the members of Parliament jobs at risk they wouldn’t be implementing them.

So in 28 days do we have another lockdown?

IF there is a “circuit breaker” do we really believe it will only last 2 weeks?? It would take weeks for it to show in the figures and I can’t see sturgeon saying after 2 weeks of continuing growth that we can reduce restrictions. The 2 week thing is a ruse, we’d be under heavy restrictions for months most likely with the total decimation of the economy an obvious outcome. Completely crazy approach from Scot gov if it is in fact true.

Struggling?  I never said I was struggling.

However, the fact that nobody was between our table and the door and we are told that to be at risk you need to be within 2m for 15 minutes makes this requirement seem ridiculous.

Another case of the government not trusting the public.
