Found the match https://www.londonhearts.com/scores/games/197008011.html

I would have been there as a 14 year old

The Dunfermline player on the right is Willie Callaghan (YTmmy Callaghan's brother) who I remember and in the centre is Jim Gillespie who I don't particularly remember

I see Dave McNicholl played for Dunfermline in that match

👍

I thought it was either him or Colin Miller but that's confirmed it

Having subsequently  checked London Hearts Ferguson played against Airdrie 6 times, Miller once so chances are...

Its Ferguson though absolutely.

I thought I'd nailed it earlier in the thread when I called him by his nickname Rodney.

Met him in a site office many years ago, sure he was doing IT work for Fife Council.

I was too young to remember him playing but had very good treatment from him in his physio days.

He had a treatment room at the back of his house in Whitburn and only charged a tenner an hour for junior players.

Didn't know he became a physio after football.    I saw his debut - a 3-2 win over Hibs at Tynecastle in the EoS Shield.... he scored one of the goals and looked a decent player.  Unfortunately that was his high-water mark in a maroon jersey.

BTW - Does your user name imply you reside near Cobbinshaw, if you don't mind me asking ? 😉

John’s correct though.  Easter Road has always been known as ‘The Piggery’ and hopefully, always will be.

I thought it was Derek scoring at the piggery in our 2-1 win there in March(I think) 1979. If not my mistake and apology for getting the match and venue wrong.

I think this is Donald scoring New year's day 1974, alas we lost 3-1.

Drew Busby the other Hearts player.

Hibs players right to left. Brownlie, Schaedler McArthur the goalie. Blackley and Black.

No apologies necessary mate, we'd be more surprised if you got something right!

Only kidding by the way, before you run off crying to the mods.

Deffo looks like Brownlie to me, then he may have gone to Newcastle by then. I dont see the Des Bremner moustache.
