Hearts v Celtic semi - over 28,000 sold

BBC had this story at 4pm bulletin, saying Hearts v Celtic likely to be first, at Murrayfield, with Aberdeen v Rangers later in the afternoon at Hampden.

If this turns out to be the case, I will be as pleasantly surprised as I've ever been.

Also, a massive GIRFUY to Willie "Glasgow-is-the-home-of-Scottish-football Haughey".

Provided all parties can agree?

So if celtic don't agree it's a non starter?

Being totally cynical here but Murrayfield talk is a red herring imo, leaked to the press this afternoon by Lawell to make it appear it was on the table, where as privately he'll be saying  "...no feckin' chance".

Still expecting both games at Hampden with date change.

Now that would be some red herring, clearly specifying alternative venue although he does have a brass neck and is absolutely corrupt!  : “This is clearly extremely welcome news. We immediately contacted Police Scotland and informed them of this development and this has enabled us to open talks to explore whether the match could be staged at an alternative venue in the timescales available.

Hmmmm, Doncaster playing a very dangerous game if that’s the case. He can’t backtrack from both “we can’t get out of the contract” and “fixture change is impossible”.

Having Hampden Plc (the SFA) reconsider, allows him to save a little face. All credibility would be gone if fixture change is now the solution.

I agree, Doncaster is between a rock and a hard place.

I hope it's Murrayfield, but ultimately Lawell has his arm up Doncasters hoop and he won't care an iota for Doncasters credibility.

Popcorn time at Chateau du Felix.

If this tie gets moved to murrayfield it shows how much crap Doncaster spouts.

It it will also be up to the hearts fans to sell out our allocation to prove that moving the game was the right decision.

If it does get moved, and its a big if, he surely has to go. He is a disaster.

It it would also put a question mark on be claim that the police advised tbe Aberdeen game to be played first.

Far better views than Hampden, closer to the pitch believe it or not, steeper stands, bigger capacity.

Both will sell out allocations I think, given the occasion and convenience for the Hearts fans.

I'd have preferred a trip to Glasgow. Edinburgh doesn't seem right for a semi-final, unless Tynecastle or Easter Road.

What’s the chances of our game being at Ibrox and the other one at Celtic Park. One on Saturday and the other on Sunday?

They're both playing in the Europa league on the Thursday before...hence Saturday is a non-runner

'This s a very welcome development' says Doncaster, referring to the Hampden Limited waiving the requirement to have old firm semis at Hampden. Incredible stuff. Absolute clowns at the SFA, SPFL.

Lied about police giving the okay, lied about the clubs agreeing, transport such as ScotRail said it would be a nightmare, genuinely failed on every aspect.

Even this ‘contract’ with hampden all of a sudden can just be ignored ?

Bot doing anything for the Scottish game, GTF who’s paying his wages

I suspect that request was specifically in view of Celtic fans being around, in numbers, later in the same day.

It does also show that even the plod are well aware of just how much potential there is in the Rangers support, to kick off big time.

I reckon the SRU are making the football beaks sweat now. The SFA totally used the SRU over the whole Hampden fiasco just a couple of weeks ago and I bet they're hacked off. Everyone knows the SRU can pull out a top-class event with several weeks notice.

Yeah I hate to rain on our parade - but there will be serious segregation/security issues regarding an SF at Murrayfield with 60,000 people present. Hampden may be a shite ground in every other regard, but it has one strong selling point: the customary and effective segregation between fans approaching and leaving from each end.

?

Perhaps not officially but they certainly exert a lot of influence on ‘helping’ the SPFL reverse & reach a final position!

Very similar to the Hearts v Rangers final championship game which was reinstated to the original date having been moved at short notice at request of TV / authorities!!

When Hearts confirm the date I’ll be booking my flight! ✈️!

On both counts. Stuart and Tam should have pulled him up about that shite. Although I think he said:

”I got involved as soon as I found out they were considering Murrayfield. I did it so Glasgow could remain the HEART of Scottish Football.”

Subtle difference, but a difference nonetheless.

Great news- having taken the huff, I will now make every effort to attend this and bring as many of my family as possible if this happens - we need to justify the change of venue with a big crowd for future reference.

According to some on Hibs.net, we are cheats and shouldn't be in the semi-final (not sure how they came to that conclusion, I can only assume they are referring to Andrew Irvine playing, which is clutching at straws even for them!!!). They can't wait for us to come back down to earth as our "arrogance" is unbearable due to our good run of form...they really don't do irony do they?...given the amount of nonsense we have had to listen to since their cup win. And the possibility of our semi playing at Murrayfield seems to be tipping some of them over the edge...its glorious.

My point was the organisation running the competition confirm the kick off time/location not the club. Using your logic Hearts need to confirm every kick off time via the website?

You talk about final positions. A confirmed kick off time by the competition organisers is final. Or should be.

Also see the quote from hearts ‘Following further conversations this evening, I do not believe the plan can/will be changed.‘

Re the championship final game, this was changed back as Rangers/Hibs final positions were not confirmed and it was deemed to be unfair. As one team would know what they needed to do. This is a very different situation.

My original point still stands though. The competition organisers announcing a confirmed time should be that.

If it turns out to be at murrayfield at a sensible time, it will be preferable and i’ll still be there. But your point about hearts confirming it is nonsense.

If it is played at Murrayfield then Hearts need to allow season ticket holders to buy up to 3-4 tickets. Don’t make it difficult to buy tickets or we’ll end up with 10k Hearts fans there.
