Old cattle market, the sale of live animals was forbidden within the city walls. This photo says Lauriston place, but the cattle was sold at Kings Stables Road.

It might be somewhere in Bonnington

It's at the bottom end of St.Marks Park heading to the bridge at Bonnington.

Cheers - Don't know that area too well.

No reason to go to Powderhall now since the speedway and dogs got their stadium demolished

And the old speedway stadium

The old Leith Athletic stadium, played for Southside Police one game, the only time in my life I played on a ground with a grandstand. Even empty it was a thrill.  In the days of the sppedway Edinburgh Monarchs, as kids we would go down to the pits on a Sunday and sometimes get to push some of the speedway riders motor bikes to get them started after they had worked on them. Thrilled when I spoke to Eddie Lack one Sunday.

I've googled Leith Walk and those flats are hidden now from street level. They are up Middlefield I think. The building behind the petrol station also looks to have come forward a bit, where you say the Sainsbury is. I thought the petrol station was further down past Pilrig Street so that 11 bus was throwing me a bit as well !
