Was that the Travellers Tryst at one point?

Quite possibly given the location. I had my first drink in there around 1979 and it was the Highwayman then.

No the Tryst was a different bar. You entered the Tryst at the office block where the buses exited from.

Naw Broughton Street. 19 bus never went up or down Lothian Road.

Surely that has to be Lothian Road John?

As @Seymour M Hersh said earlier, is that not the number 18 bus?  That definitely went up Lothian Road as we used to take it from there when my girlfriend (now wife) lived just off Minto Street.

Ok, thanks.

What was the name of the other bar in the bus station then?

Edit: forget it!  I’ve just read Hughs answer above

You know that old adage.  You get wiser as you get older? I am living proof that, that's a load of bollocks.

The flat directly above was used in Trainspotting 2 (Sick Boy's flat)

There was never a chinese on the ground floor, that was added purely for the film (but you never really saw it in the final edit)

I remember the prefabs there in the early 60s. My wife's uncle had a plaque put up in this "development" in recognition of his community work.

Caroline Park. On the north side of West Granton Road, just before the National Museum of Scotland storage facility. Demolished in the early phases of the Waterfront development.

Holyrood Road before all the University Buildings were put up. I used to take my Grandad for a pint in the Snuff Box as he lived in the new pensioners houses put up in the late 60's early 70's.

Thanks for that - I know they look like the flats opposite Forresters but wasn't convinced

Very top right corner is Crewe road west just over the railway, now a road.

Think before that are prefabs?

Big circle is west pilton circus.

The long gone Craigmillar primary school front right facing West Pilton park. I stayed in West Pilton circus no21 around 1972/73 the stair on the left of the road, coming into the circus from West Pilton bank. Which later would have the first Pirniehall school built on it. Which now has two schools. Pirniehall MKII and, St David's MKII.

Why would a primary school in West Pilton be called Craigmillar?
