Didn't the place with the Moben sign,  which is now a coffee shop like the garden centre, no used to be a bakers shop/cafe?  Crawford's or Martin's I think.

Crawfords baker back in the day.

 

My Mum who died in April this year aged 80 used to walk to work there everyday from the Dean Village when she was 13. She had 10/11 brothers and sisters to help feed.

 

Changed days.

The old West Granton. Possibly the biggest slums in Edinburgh at one time. One of the better decisions taken by the city to flatten them.

My maternal Grandad worked in Granton Gas works, lived in the prefabs at Pilton, memories!

That's at the end of my road, Duddingston Park South, garage now flats.

When I first met my wife she told me she stayed in Duddingston, Niddrie is it no.

Looks awfully like Lothian Road John. You can make out princes Street at the bottom. I reckon it's the (now) junction of East Fountainbridge and Fountainbridge. I think it's the 18 bus which definitely did go up Lothian Road.

Fonzie's was a chippy called Ronnie's when I attended Broughton secondary 1966-1972...so long ago.
