If he has agreed to walk after the 4 games no compensation..

Compensation is the thing people have to understand. There is 3 years left of contract there. Again, a huge glaring mistake, the length of contract.

I took stick for this, and I like Austin McPhee and I hope he survives, but 2 rookies together was a massive gamble. The choice of assistant was not right, not a criticism at all of Austin, but the profiles were too similar. For 3/4 year deals anyhow.

Exactly, You simply cannot ignore what the fans want, especially when she has no problem asking us to empty our pockets.

This situation could be made 1000X worse if not handled this week.

Certainly could be for a variety of reasons.

If true an awful decision by the board.

In either case there must be a statement released in which they can give us valid reasons why they have come to such a conclusion.

I suspect they are working on an exit package with him, and talking to a replacement.

Budge really not covering herself in glory here, during the first real "tough" time on the park during her tenure.

She's great at making statements when the fans misbehave - how about showing some true leadership and speaking out now. 48 hours since Saturday's debacle and not a peep just isn't good enough.

This clearly adept businesswomen is really not running her business particularly well given her "customers", the fans (and ultimately the future owners of the club) are being left in the dark right now.

Dont disagree with what your saying. But I thought I was having an eye test reading it....letters getting smaller on each line...

Generally clubs (especially in our financial position) don't pay off managers with lump sums, it can be negotiated and paid over time so I don't buy the we can't afford it story.

Budge and Levein should hang their heads at the money they have cost us with this appointment and some of the ludicrous contracts we have handed out in recent times. At the same time as the fans have dug deep time and again they have cost us hundreds of thousands in pay offs. Furthermore the ineptitude of those they put in charge has cost us huge amounts given the shocking cup exits etc. Dreadful stuff.

That is not true. Ann cares an awful lot and has demosntrated on numerous occasions.

I'm beginning to think she's one of the pair of females who sat behind me regularly and just talked about hotels, shopping and bar lunches for the entire 90mins and never got out their seats to celebrate goals...because it's starting to look like she doesn't give a toss about what's going on on the pitch despite being a fan before taking over the club.

2 different people text me the same thing and both usually know what's going on - just thought I would post it here but one of them was pretty definate.

I'm not having this. The last 4 games he has lost to Peterhead, drawn with Dunfermline, sneaked a win at Elgin and had a reasonable win over east Fife. Failing to qualify from the group.

So, we're not entirely sure we should bin him and we're giving him the most difficult set of 4 games imaginable(not far off it) and we've set a target(presumably) points haul, or at the very least we want to see performance improvement.

If that's what we've said to him its fecking unbelievable. For a start the players can get rid of this guy now should they decide that's in their best interests.

Back him to the hilt or sack him immediately. That's what a strong board would do. I don't believe for a minute we've said to him '4 games to keep your job'

Bang on. The player turnover rate during Budge/Levein's reign is absolutely absurd and must be addressed. I reiterate my earlier post, but for such a clued up businesswomen she is making a lot of mistakes on leaking funds.

Fair enough, but why not? I gave an example of Ann being out of touch.

She has introduced new food at games and new items in the shop. These were things fans were asking for. There are other things too. I just don't think the club don't care about what we think.

The vast majority want Cathro to go, I understand that, but sacking him won't just be a straight forward process. Maybe they are trying to get him to walk without compensation. Trying to save the club money. None of us really know.

So do I. What could possibly be the chat around 4 games? What would his target be to retain his job? 12 points or 9 / 6 / 3....its impossible to do imo.

If anything unofficially he'll have the next 4 games while he finds a job and we have a replacement.

Football players would treat that sort of deal with utter contempt. And it also puts us under real threat of them ensuring he gets the sack. Rightly or wrongly the players could play this anyway they want.

Yet another shining example of the sheer business incompetence of craig levein. He's dished out expensive 3/4 year deals to complete rookies. Did the board not realise how much of an astronomical gamble this was? Did they not foresee having to pay out compo? Did they not think cathro would have adequate legal advice? For the first time I'm concerned about the new regimes governance. Money is being frittered away left, right and centre and it's largely down to Craig levein.

the big show

What the 4 games will tell us.

It isn't a case of a team gelling, Rust, unfamiliar wont be excuses

The players are playing for him or not, It will be clear

Can he learn lessons from previous mistakes.

I think we all know already, but we are not the company who then need to negotiate a severance. Sacking people is not just as straight forward as the fans don't like him so bin him. Unfortunately we now have to tip toe through the minefield the appointment created.  It has all been so very disappointing, almost bewildering, for someone who so many have had faith in, from inside the game, to have had such a catastrophic effect.

With the window closing, it leaves a very awkward position as to who arrives with regard to playing personnel. Almost impossible.

i Think we all know already ? . Surely that just makes the decision all the more unbelievable and mind boggling , What gets me even further is all the flak and focus seems to be on Cathro yet our Dof has been every bit as bad with a lot of the decisions being made on different fronts and he was the one putting the rookies in place .. unless i'm missing something ?

I don't think you can pin every problem at the club on CL.  He is part of a management team and they all have including FOH reps collective responsibility.

I'm not defending the coach's record, but the reaction of some people here to the club's response is incredible.

People genuinely seem furious that the club hasn't issued some kind of public statement by Monday afternoon after we have a bad week.

Do the club need to communicate with the fans after every bad result?

It's a bad week, but the hysteria here is a bit much.

The player turnover is massively concerning given the downturn in results. Yes they all have some responsibility but who has the final say in player turnover? Levein.

IF we had just lost to Peterhead and failed to beat Dunfermline I could almost agree with your post.... BUT this has been going on for 8 months now. The slide since Cathro took control is like no other slide I have witnessed before, save for perhaps Hibs after they replaced Fenlon with Pat Butcher - it is that bad.

This past week has been the straw that has broken the camels back, but lets not pretend for a second that this is hysteria as a result of this past week alone.

These things can happen quickly but the process has to start now.

If we are giving him four games, it's not giving him notice, it is giving him a chance. If he fails again THEN we sack him and appoint a new man and we are probably six games in to the league season.

It's not like we are going to advertise the role tomorrow and say we expect the new man to start in four games time (unless we get a couple of decent results in the interim)

It's wasting time.

The process has started now.

I can bet you a chunk of money if we find that the guy we want is available before the four games are up he will be brought in before the four games are up.

Na, sorry i'm calling bullshit on this one. I would say she has been influence too much by the so called specialist she appointed to an area she recognised was not her strength, but to say she doesn't give a toss about things is out of order. As long as we pay our money, Ann/the club doesnt give a flying ****.

Why should ST holders renew? They will have a shiny new stand (at some point, and which they paid for) to look at.

We are all annoyed and angered by the "situation" but come on Ann doesn't take us for granted. This is her first big test as chairwoman. She better get I right.

What do you want them to say?

Assuming there's no sacking, what can they say?

How professional would it be for the club to go public with the manager on the shoogly peg line? What purpose would that serve?

Do you want Cathro begging for forgiveness?

How about everyone calms down and lets them get on with their work?

Is that enough questions?

I think they're going to back him. I have no problem with this, we desperately need a new Goalkeeper and something in midfield, elsewhere I think when proper fitness kicks in we're pretty solid.

I won't be judging him on anything but league form and I don't think it'll take long to judge whether we can get the much coveted European spot that Mrs Budge has set as the target.

All the abuse aimed at Cathro, Levein and Mrs Budge on here is disgusting btw. Used to think Hearts supporters had a touch of class about them, obviously not anymore.

Not sure I agree JT, if it was just a case of finding/waiting for the right appointment, IC would be gone now as there are a few internal temporary options

to get us through until that time. I think we are skint and because of the 3.5 year deals for IC and Am, we are financially hamstrung! The person to blame for this is CL!

Tend to agree to an extent, but Anne Budge would have to agreed to this and signed off on this, I don't believe she is that naive that she gives Craig Levein a complete free reign to agree to every single contract.

She is just as culpable as Levein when it comes to these deals
