It's a great relief that this worthless asset is providing so much.

The vast majority of which is winging its way into the homes of England’s Green and Peasant (sp) Land.

Taxing unexpected mega profits is "throwing red meat to socialists" according to Richard Drax.

Maybe he should concentrate on righting the wrongs of the evil,  blood stained,  slavery mired history of the Drax family.

How much of a seriously sinister b****** must you be if you get outraged that gas & oil companies are having their RECORD PROFITS taxed, and given to people who cannot eat.

An absolute predator of a man.

Good job Labour, it's an incompetent government that will u-turn only when shamed out of their callous inaction by the opposition. Did he have the guts to actually call it a windfall tax or did he invent a new word, just like he tried to invent a new way to use a contactless debit card?

So let me get this straight,

His family amassed their wealth through the slave trade, he doesn’t believe gay people should have equal rights and he’d rather see record profits in the pockets of oil and gas companies, than go towards feeding starving people in this country.

What a delightful Tory.

Nothing turns out to be so oppressive and unjust as a feeble government.
Edmund Burke,

The so called Conservative party would do well to take note .
Just thought I'd post this saying as I posted on the philosopher thread.

Edmund Burke is regarded as the founding father of conservative philosophy.
Far removed from the shower in government.

I’d hazard a guess that there’s people out there a lot worse off than ourselves, people in genuine dire straits.

Todays announcement is a very welcome one.

Yes there are people in genuine need.

I actually believe that some would rather he didn't announce these measures today. They are so consumed by their manic hatred of the Tories that they cant deal with this very welcome news . Faces seem to be tripping them.  Its been a master stroke really by BJ.  He  may eventually go down as a great Prime Minister.  :)

I'd rather they were gone mate.

And I am conservative.

It's embarrassing how standards have fallen I public life.

And it is really worrying how the blatant lies the obvious corruption is almost acceptable.

They breach nearly every conservative value you could mention.

The energy crisis has been handle pathetically and the overwhelming interests have been to look after the powerful at the expense of not only the poorest but the country as a whole.

If you are seriously suggesting he will go down as a great then you are not paying attention.

Tory MP removes 'gay lesson' blog entry after complaint - BBC News

Never heard of him before. Therefore never heard about his alleged homophobia.  Reading that article leads me to think its relatively mild homophobia . Sounds more uneducated and ignorant that deliberately and consciously being homophobic. Judging by the hysteria on this I assumed he had been calling for all gays to be hung ,  drawn and quartered .  Id also rather someone is actually open about their even mild homophobia. Least you know where you stand with them.  Know thine enemy. Talking about   " mild" homophobia , i did notice that there was a comment directed  to me about me buying a " ballgown"  earlier on this thread. Dearie me.

Unfortunately I don't think so.

Not if you go by other political forums.

They even excuse tax rises.

Ignore the theft and money grab through covid.

I'm hopeful the silent majority vote them out.

Labour really need to up their game but the culture war aspect of politics is a problem for them.

But this lot needs emptied .
