I’ve googled it. I’ve found it origins and what it apply to. How Ive gone from AB to some far right British group, I’m less sure off 🀣 Well I know how we got there but why is beyond me.Β
Β

I just found the whole thing funny. Plus, I’m a little stoned so you now that goes πŸ˜‚Β
Β

Dylan advertising Tampax is hysterical if you need a laugh.Β
Β

Β

Yes some people get their knickers in a twist about the so called " far right". I have been accused on this of being a " far right bot" spamming the threads with various articles. tweets misinformation etc from " the far right". I find it all very amusing really. IM actually quite a socialist . One can only laugh at that person Dylan . I expect he will be " an addict" next.Β  Anything for attention it seems , however he is a gross insultΒ  to women. You know the old fashioned ones with tits and a f*****.Β Β

You. You have as we have gone from AB price drop, which was our discussion, to it being about a far right extremist group. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Β

As always these conversations are funny but fruitlessπŸ˜‚

Β

Β

I'm not conflating things, this thread is about Woke, I know because I started it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Β

The AB stuff is about the right's reaction to their perception of the company going Woke, the effect on their share price is because of the Go Woke, Go Broke thing that they're trying, and failing, to do.

Β

If you didn't think this was about Woke, probably the wrong thread πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

It’s about destroying culture. It’s about self hate. It’s about believing all woman. It’s thinking there is no difference between men and women. It’s about believing all black people are oppressed and all white people are oppressors. It’s thinking that pedophiles should be rebranded as Minor Attracted Persons(MAPS). It’s about silencing and marginalising those you disagree with. It’s about government having more say in your life than necessary. It’s confused and illogical. Apparently some people getting their knickers in a twist about this . Mine aren’t . But at least she isn’t portrayed as almost milk bottle white with luminous blue eyes a la Liz Taylor . She was of Greek heritage and was β€œ dark β€œ probably looked like Maria CallasΒ

It does amuse me though that it's Egyptians kicking off over it.Β

Β

Lot of pish in general. Acting is acting. Couldn't care if she was as white as snow or as black as midnight or anything in between. This drive that only actors of certain groups should be considered for certain roles is probably well intentioned but a right load of pish.Β

I think they should cast people as near to the persons race / colour as possible , if they were real people . I was flabbergasted when I was watching the film β€œ see how they run β€œ it had a plot about Agatha Christie’s β€œ the mousetrap β€œ anyway Christie appeared in it as a character and then her husband who was played by a black actor , her husband was white.Β

I'd tend to agree but the amount of nonsense it causes and manufactured "backlash" just means I don't care anymore. The above is quite amusing as it seems like the typical American attempts at being inclusive based on American optics and its backfired somewhat. Portraying her as black is just as hamfisted as portraying her as white but it fits the bill for making some American production team feel better about themselves.Β

I get it, Egypt sees itself as different from the rest of Africa, more influenced by the Mediterranean civilisations, and fights hard to maintain its identity. I mean, it's the Arab Republic of Egypt, and part of it isn't actually in Africa.

The Ptolomeic line was Macedonian and white, going 200+ years back, although we don't know who her mother was.

Β

It might not seem that big a deal to us, but Hugh Grant starring in Braveheart would have had many kicking off here!

Ah I get it and I agree with the thrust of the complaints. Overall though it just bores the tits off me. I think in particular it's because so often even the attempts at inclusivity come through this Americanised lense where they view the entirety of world history through their own experience of race. Their nuance is lacking. It is well intentioned, but irritating.Β

Β

They're far from the only country to view the world this way of course but they do make the most noise culturally.Β

Β

Hugh Grant playing Braveheart would've been objectionable for much more than his Englishness! I reckon most of us would've just laughed though. A bit like Sean Connery rocking into Robin Hood as Richard the Lionheart. Sensational stuff 🀣

Always my favourite bit of casting there. We have a film called Highlander - let's make our high profile Scottish actor Spanish.Β

She could probably be used as ballast, thus saving herself money and ensuring some poor normal person next to her doesn’t have to deal with her gargantuan bulk.Β

Chaney admitted she did not know who would fund the cost of the suggestions but believed the changes were worth itΒ Β

It's been a long time since I've watched it but i saw it so many times when i was young. I always remember that i thought it was funny that the Scotsman was played by a French man while the Scottish actor played the "Foreigner"Β
