I think he's clearly still upset that his lot signed McGeady

I'm questioning the fact it's been left until after the window closed to sign someone in a position we knew needed filled months ago. If they were signed when they should have been, we'd have even more players available for Europe.

I'm not happy that it's ended up this way because we've seen ourselves off.

Yes I'm glad we are signing players, not happy that it's been timed poorly.

Take a step back.  Even if we make it through our Conf group, we ain't getting anywhere near the Final.

The big prize for us this season is finishing 3rd  in the league and getting a good Cup run.   Any signing that helps us achieve that is a positive.

Let's wait and see before throwing him under a bus ...you do not want to have to turn around and say "He has proven me wrong'" (but still hold the same grudges against Savage and Robbie), do you now?

Naismith's tackle on Brown was worth an awful lot of cash.

Hopefully works out a treat and Snodgrass does the biz but seems a bit of a desperate signing.

He's always been a wide forward but lacking pace he isn't what I'd think we need

Seems a bit of a square peg I'm a round hole type signing.

Assuming they think he can play the 10 role?

We're frankly stuffed to the gills with young promising players lacking in experience. Another experience field marshal out there will do us no harm at all.

We get 5 subs. If he gives us 30-60 minutes of high quality link up play up top he'll be a big improvement.

I think the last two games have coloured things, but if you built two XIs from our squad they are good teams (when everyone is fit, apart from Boyce as he is out for the season)

                                          Gordon

                  Halkett             Rowles          Kingsley

Atkinson             Kio              Devlin                 Cochrane

                   Forrest                              McKay

                                       Shankland

                                            Clark

          M. Smith        Neilson           Sibbick         Halliday

                                 Haring            Beni

           Ginnelly               Snodgrass                 Grant

                                      Humphrys

(Not trying to get a decision who is first or second XI, just showing two capable teams.) I still think we will sign 1 more player (and I think it will be next week as players re-evaluate their options.)

Desperate In what sense?

literally got him on a free transfer and he’s a level above most of our team, so in my opinion an improvement to our team

Good signing.

As for Europe we will find on Thursday if there is any chance of one player making any difference to what we can achieve there. In fact I am pleased Snodgrass at least won't have that distraction.

Loads of the usual idiots on here didn't want Gordon back as he was 'too old'. Have a look back at the threads. You could write down the collective football knowledge of most of our fans on the back of a match-day ticket!

To be fair most of the usual idiots on here didn’t want him because he was at Celtic

Steven Naismith was a colossal waist of money??? Wash your mouth out sir. Naismith was absolutely class. Scored goals, bossed the team and brought  on young players no end. I sometimes wonder if people look out their window in the morning and see an apocalyptic scene from Vietnam, such is the negative delusion on here.

Ronald Villiers

We've signed him, great, I hope he does well for us.  He's 35 but we need a bit of experience and dig and he'll bring that in abundance.  I cannae believe some on this site are slating him.  Complain because we've never heard of them, they're too young, or too old.  We're a fickle bunch!

Like the signing. Short term and past his best, obviously, but an excellent footballer nonetheless. Will enjoy playing with the likes of McKay. Can contribute at our level and may well get new lease of life and thoroughly enjoy it. Hope he brings leadership. ****ing ridiculous this was not done prior to European signing window.

I did feel a bit apocalyptic when Liz Truss spoken today, but yes Naismith was and is class. What happened in the end was not his fault...

I think he'll be a decent signing.

Great experience, good ability on the ball and he can score goals.

A forward thinking midfielder who will demand high standards.

Great signing, well done Hearts. Another forward/ striker, put Haring back into defence, as is his best position now and I’d be pretty happy.

Sit him in the 10 and let him pull the strings, think he’ll be a top signing, there’s plenty legs round him just win the ball give it to him and he’ll open up defences.

Naismith and Berra were both outstanding signings, the players they were in their first season or two would have really shone in the squad we have now. Sad we got to watch their decline through injury, although Naismith always played well between increasingly long stretches on the treatment table.

Bang on.

Look them up, Ains. Every season he was with us he was directly involved in - so scored or assisted - a minimum of 10 goals.
