Worth noting that they did get the Forrest signing spot on but as others have said, some of their exclusives are absolute shite. Could go either way really but they seem pretty confident.

Every man and their dog knew we were after Forrest.

As for seeming confident, there are no stakes here. It isn't an actual journalist. They'll just delete the tweet and continue posting shite like they did when they claimed Jake Hastie was signing for us.

People will continue to believe them because they've been "spot on before" (i.e. about the same number of times someone who is guessing might be).

Hard not to see him impressing against Forest Green. I think he'll go on the pre season tour.

Could be another one who's decided in August.

Isn't it also true that we could nominate Murrayfield or Tynecastle for EL play-off, then change for group stage?

Or would that only be possible if we changed competition, i.e. EL to ECL?

I know a lot of fans prefer Tynie, but we could secure a shedload of extra cash for new players (and more bonuses for current players) if we get 2 huge teams

-

And so do the players. Securing extra cash is pretty short-sighted imo, we want to give ourselves the best possible chance to progress and being at Tynecastle gives us that.

I only said he was slow buddy!

Another Doncaster fan on that thread says:

Quote

At his best IMO Wright is quite a bit better than [Rob] Jones who wasn't the quickest and, because of it, was sometimes in trouble.

Nobody seems to mention Wright's alleged lack of pace, more concerned about his injuries (understandably), and whether he's looking for a move. Your mate's entitled to his opinion obviously, that's what the game's all about. Doesn't seem like he's the slowest CH in world football though ("slower than Aaron Hughes").

No, it's far more important to get the right players in than to just rush out and buy anybody because a bunch of jkb drama queens are having palpitations a couple months before the window shuts!

Ideally, we'd get the players we want in fairly soon, preferably at least one striker before the league starts, but playing the first few games with what we've got then getting in who we want would be better in the long run than signing a bunch of players we don't want now and then playing the whole season with them.

Spot on. We all know what happens when you start signing players just because they're available.

We are now much more focused in our recruitment and will take whatever time needed to get the right players.

The Sun reporting Brentford have had a £14.5m (potentially rising to £17.5m) bid accepted for Hickey.

Reckon this is what we’ve been waiting for before we make our big moves. I’d imagine, Savage will be in the know with Hickey’s reps as to where and when he’s moving and planned accordingly. I’d imagine the Shankland and Ronan moves will happen shortly now.

This is the most interesting bit:

Aberdeen are chapping at the bit to land Ronan. Jim Goodwin previously worked with him at St Mirren and are due to open up their competitive action away to Peterhead in the Premier Sports Cup next Sunday.

Hearts are taking a more patient approach and are giving Wolves and Ronan the time they need to see what pans out.

At least £2.1 mil for us then

Plus 15% of those add ons, so could be up to £2.6m.

I’ve been favouring St. Mingin’ recently, for what it’s worth.  👍

Take the money from Hickey sale, give 50% of it to Everton for Simms, 25% as a sign on fee direct to Simms and get him up to Edinburgh pronto. Then give the other 25% to Wolves for Ronan.

Re Ronan if the deal is only a loan - surely he would pick us. I mean yea he knows Goodwin but you’ve got to think he’d pick European football over that, especially if it’s only potentially for 1 season.

Hickey money will be unaccounted for by Hearts, so hopefully it goes straight in the pot for buying the next Zidane.

Not sure how it works though but likely we won't get a lump sum.  Imagine Brentford are paying in installments for the agreed fee.

It would be interesting to know if we would get 15% of any add ons.

We will end up getting more money from the sell on fee than we did from when we sold him to Bologna in the first place. It didnt help that Hickey was in his final year of his contract with us when he left.

On the matter of players released, Ryan Schiavone, who was released by us at the end of the season has joined East Fife.

The problem with Simms isn’t the transfer fee it’s the fact he’s on 15k a week.

Give him 500k sign on bonus.

You know there are other strikers out there apart from Simms….

Yup, I like Simms and thought he worked well, would love him back but he wont be the only striker that fits our requirements.

I am the same with Ronan, £500k is far too much for him and there will other players who we could get who would be just as good or better within our price range.

Given the mention of the Japanese market in January I’m surprised we haven’t been linked with any players from that league again?
Can’t be just the one player we identified over there.

That player Tsuyoshi Ogashiwa has only managed less than 30mins football since his Hamstring injury and is back injured again. Think the ship will have sailed with him given the fees being discussed at the time

Give him a percentage of any future sale price for him.

He either backs himself or he isn’t worth the cash.

Yes but we know that Simms works in our set up and league.

A highly de-risked transfer.

Think we need to broaden our horizons, every signing is a gamble.A very high percentage of clubs now play with a 3 across the front or a No9 with 3 behind…I’m sure there are many players that would fit our style and formations.

So realistically he’s going to take a 9k a week wage drop? Absolutely no chance. Best we can do is a loan deal. Anything more then it’s utter wow from us.
