My gut feeling is Evertons fee expectations and his own salary are insurmountable issues. We can probably look forward to from January to the end of the season transfer speculation with 'Rangers being interested'

karipidis
I’d be surprised if he wasn’t going to Edinburgh. No fees received for Paterson or Nicholson for a start. I suspect the transfer fee we'll eventually receive for Beni will dwarf that received for Lafferty, Sow and Hickey combined. Steven MacLean Uche Ikpeazu Bobby Burns Sean Clare Jake Mulraney Colin Doyle Bobby Zlamal Olly Lee Ben Garuccio Oli Bozanic Peter Haring Clevid Dikamona Aidy White David Vanecek Craig Wighton Steven Naismith Jimmy Dunne Conor Shaugnessey Demi Mitchell That's just one seasons recruitment under CL. How many of those could you actually say were a success at Hearts? 3? Many of above made reasonable contributions without being 'crackers' Also , people like Mulraney , made us money . But I was referring to all his signings . Think your list is quite selective . Currently Haring , Halkett , Smith , I think , were Levein's signings . He would have signed Gordon too if Celtic hadn't vetoed it . I don't , for a minute , claim Levein all good but find the Levein all bad argument tedious . Also , overall , inaccurate

His signing record while manager was mostly wasteful and ill conceived. If you want to include his signings while overseeing anther manager, it only gets worse. All managers make good/bad signings and while Rowles, Grant et al look good on paper we still don't know if they'll ultimately be good signings in Hearts colours. We do have a distinct advantage right now in that we have more money than recent managers had available, which enables us to operate in a better market: we need to make that tell - but there are no guarantees.
