Heartsofgold

Notice that Joe Savage says Davie Weir was instrumental in making this move happen for the lad!  Delighted we have him permanently

Cochrane was solid and I'm content with his signing but hopefully he is coachable on beating a man and delivering better crosses.

That’s great news. He’s a good player and the best is definitely still to come from him. What a difference it makes having a bit  of stability and consistency in the squad. Welcome back Alex.

Well the gift that keeps on giving keeps happening over at the San Giro, signed Rocky who they did not want, but due to their fantastic signing recruitment process, they are stuck with him, now signed the 'Irish Victim' step forward Aiden McGeady, who is topping up his retirement fund and if he thought he got some abuse before, he will get one special welcome at Tynecastle, if not injured/terrified/bottle it.

I agree. He would be a far better player if he can improve his attacking skills. A solid defender though.

from brighton website

Albion technical director David Weir said, “Alex did very well with Hearts last season and this is a very good move for him after a successful loan spell.

“We wish him all the best for his future career and thank him for his hard work and professionalism during his time at Brighton.”

Not having that at all. McKay cemented his place in the starting line-up straight away because he was clearly our best attacking threat from the get-go. He was man of the match (or close to it) in his 2nd start in the 3-0 against Livi.

There's also Baningime, who was man of the match against Celtic a matter of days after joining.

We've signed 3 already and another 2 are as good as done. That's far more than we'd done this time last year, when most of our new signings contributed to us massively improving and easily finishing 3rd.

Getting all your business done early would be great, but it never happens. As always, bringing the right players in is the most important thing. To be getting impatient less than a week into pre-season training is laughable, really.

Quite a few comments on here saying how good he will be when he gets up to speed etc...

He hadn't played for a long time before he joined us and it definitely took him a few weeks to get anywhere near his peak silkiness. After that he was just head and shoulders above everyone with his passing and guile.

The rest of your comment is pretty irrelevant to anything I've said.

Very good signing, perfect age and we now are signing players with a view to making them better and adding a decent value to them instead of being forced to fish in a pond full of uninterested journeymen either at the end of their career or teetering on the edge of can't be arsed and happy to finish their career at Raith Rovers.

Exciting times.

Not great reading for Sibbick, is it?

Another RCB would have the new guy and Neilson. Along with Rowles, Kingsley and Cochrane would leave him as backup for Halkett?

He'd be behind Haring, Devlin, Beni and potentially Ronan or a new guy.

Interesting to see where he ends up.

The team will likely have to rotate considerably to effectively battle on four fronts until the winter break for the World Cup. Us signing anyone, other than a goalkeeper, isn't good or bad reading for anyone who's already here. The squad needs padding out.

Totally agree with this.

Good signing, glad to get him back and he knows what it means to play for us.

That's us sorted on the left hand side of the defence now. Cochrane, Kingsley and Rowles all left footed and Halliday can play left wing back if required.

Very happy with this signing. Young, played a lot of games last season and impressed but also room for improvement and the chance to make a few bob when he moves on.

Baningime is the correct answer that proves signings don’t have to be done minute one of an off season. He was our fourth signing last year. This season we’ll be at 6 or 7 new signings. I’m certainly not going to lose sleep over un-named not yet signed players.

The less remarkable version is he will at the very least be a dependable spfl player with us for a good few seasons. But lets hope he kicks on. A very sensible signing.

Someone want to nip round to the training camp and see who else is there… really good signing he improved game on game last season.

That's classy Hearts, flying the new signing out on a private jet. Whoever will be next?

Very happy with that signing. He was good last season and young enough that there’s scope for further improvement.

Berra than you

Him taking no. 19 must mean Halkett is returning to no. 26. They did say they were only retiring the number for a season iirc.

Good piece of business. Young, capable of going straight into the first team and bags of potential! Lots of things about this signing to like 😁

Really happy about signing Cochrane. He knows how we play, he is solid and dependable and i think he will improve quite a bit as he plays and matures. It must also look quite good for any other young players from England watching who can see that they would get opportunities up here.

Grant doesn't look like he is anywhere near signing. Assuming that is him in the middle.
