If the rules make sense, people will, grudgingly, accept them.

But they don't !

Limiting fans to 500 for three weeks starting on the 26th Dec but no fixtures at all for two out of those three weeks !

Em...OK !

So would you rather they put it in place for 1 week instead? Or more than 3?

Thank  f##k I was going to miss the boxing  day game anyway, let's hope the SPFL see sense and postpone all matches...though Hibs might have a chance to recover ahead of a rearranged game

Kicks in boxing day, 26th.

Surely the sensible option now is for the 3 fixtures from Boxing day to the winter break be postponed for all teams and rearranged to midweek/Wednesday night kick off's. Let's see if the league really do have the fans in mind this time round.

The SPFL is contracted to show games with the TV broadcasters on the scheduled dates.

So the Ross County game will be ok and the football lockdown happens after Boxing Day. Is that how it reads?

No 26/12 included in the 500 limit.

Why not just bring the winter break forward? FFS.

That's an SPFL decision. Not Sturgeon's. 🤣🤣🤣

Honestly the brain cells some folk lack have been made very evident during the last 2 years.

Got mines 2 weeks ago and I have the Vid right now. Self Isolating.

Didn't even know I had it until I got an NHS e-mail and did a test. Imagine the damage I could have done at a football match!

People don’t see it from your perspective some think football is more important obviously they’ve not been affected by the virus

Up in Edinburgh expecting to go to four games. Only ended up with one. Disappointing. Not convinced these new measures will help at all if the peak is coming in late January/early February and there were only three matches left before the winter break. If you put the measures in now, at what point can you justify lifting them again especially if cases continue to rise for several weeks? Not sure that postponing the games helps either as we have no idea how bad things might be further down the line.

Hibs'll still have a general sale...

That cause they are hoping they might manage to sell 500 tickets and get an ellusive sellout

14.7% or so positive test rate is a significant increase to suggest restrictions may be necessary.

Test rate is one measure, driven by the number that actually go for tests. Gross infections, hospitalisations, intensive care numbers and deaths are other measures. Three of the four are in better shape than two weeks ago. Rather than doubling every two to three days the data she gave today suggests it doubling every two weeks.

They'll report 500 attendance - will actually be closer to 200 🤣

SPFL must announce today that the winter break had been brought forward.

The tv companies can do one. They must understand the exceptional circumstances.

The SPFL can’t! They are in contract with SKY to show these games on the scheduled dates! SKY won’t give a toss if the games are behind closed doors. 🤷‍♂️

Yep, masks have certainly stopped this particular global pandemic dead in its tracks.

Yes been paying attention to all the data about this new strain throughout the world.

Not anymore serious than a bad cold and this over reaction will cause much more harm.!

I hope they have already discussed this with those running our game and the winter break can come forward.

500 is pathetic, should be percentage of ground capacity.

**** you jimmy.

Would you rather a relative needing emergency surgery be turned away

Think they may postpone a few of the fixtures, like the derbies.

I don't see that happening.

A lot of the reason is the World Cup which limited extending the season because of limits to next season's dates.

Then the risk of a bad winter.

And what  if the ban on fans lasts for 3 or 4 months.

The TV companies won’t “do one”! The SPFL have a contract with them and if it’s not honoured then they will get hit with huge financial penalties! That is the reality of this shit situation!

Thanks martoon but I don't have any symptoms so I am one of the dangerous ones. I wouldn't have even tested without getting the e-mail and would have spread it round my family and friends, which is fine if they're young, healthy and have had their boosters, but some are old, have health conditions, and are a risk of hospitalisation. Plus the strain on the local NHS.

But FITBAWWWWWWW!!!!!

I've seen 4 people with covid today so far, all younger, no vaccination at all.

Front line for 20 months dealing with covid.

Step too far.

Mind how the first lockdown was what was needed?

Mind how self isolation was what was needed

Mind how only mixing with limited other households was needed

Mind how the vaccine was what we needed?

Mind how games behind closed doors was what was needed?

Mind how the fire break was what was needed?

Mind how limited attendences were what was needed?

Mind how covid passports were what was needed?

Mind how the booster was what was needed?

I'm slowly coming over to this way of thinking.

Test rate % has nothing to do with number of tests. It's a % not a number. If it goes up then it means it's spreading through more people.

The other markers you mention won't show any increase for a couple of weeks from now. 3 weeks ago when Omicron appeared here there were a handful of cases, usually hospitalisation follows 2 weeks later and deaths weeks after that. Of course hospitalizations won't be increased yet as only a handful had it.

Now we are at 1000s picking it up a day so if there is to be an increase we will see it going forward.

Hopefully it doesn't increase and these restrictions come to an end after 3 weeks.

At that stage the Scottish Gov can make plans to come up with a long term plan as this isn't sustainable.

You should probably let Jason Leitch know that then:

”"Remember, it's not so much inside McDiarmid Park that particularly worries us, it's the travel too and from, it's the pubs, it's all the stuff around sport.”
