In the institution I work in it was actively encouraged to vote against leaving the Union to safeguard our place in the EU. I'm only bitter about leaving the EU because far right radges from down south thought it would be a good idea without realising the consequences. The SNP don't need to do anything to keep themselves relevant, they landslide ever election going in Scotland. Some landslide. They're a minority administration. If you allowed yourself to be swayed be your work, that's your problem. Everyone was allowed free vote. Again, safe guarding place in EU was never a factor in independence vote. It was rarely, if ever mentioned by either side. Brexit gave SNP the chance to grab a lifeline that they took and suddenly EU membership became the reason independence failed. It was the Remainers and the Torys that went on about voting remain to stay in the EU - only for them to vote to leave it 2 years later Thats utter rubbish your second paragraph and exposes your ignorance. Maybe for the boy in the street the EU wasn't given a second thought but for people working in the financial and Educational industries - a major part of our city - the EU business was on most peoples thoughts. Hagar the Horrible
This turns out the best result for the SNP, they get to spin it…oh we are repressed by the nasty Tories. If they had won, they would have held a referendum at great expense when we are in a financial crisis which would have panicked the stock market and caused even more financial crisis. However, after the referendum, it would have been an emphatic NO…why? Nurses, teachers’ civil servants all getting well below inflation pay rises…Not the fault of Westminster. The windfall tax on big companies in Scotland would be easy there would be no big companies, they would naff off. Leaving us the middle pay earners hit with the bill, so that any sponger with an undiagnosable ailment could get access to everything while we who work would have to pay twice…as per leaked email. The SNP not the Tories want to make a 2 tier NHS. Even a successful referendum, the SNP could, would and cannot deliver it. The SNP have wasted how much money on a court case which in essence is asking the court for clarity that if you stuck your fingers in the fire would they burned? However perhaps under an independent Scotland we become fireproof? How mush more public money can the SNP piss up a wall on their dream? WE had a referendum, and it was decided we said NO? I would prefer we got a pay rise rather than a referendum in which that the result will be a foregone conclusion….it will be the Status Quo!!! I still believe that that the fight is all the SNP want, win or lose the SNP have no more purpose, however as it stands I am even angrier now at Nicolas statement that she is disappointed! as a point of law it was not hard to understand she was always going to fail. She clearly wasted public money to make a public point and in her insane political stunt to win over the hearts of the undecided that they are oppressed. The SNP should pay all legal fees on this as why do we the tax payer have to take that hit?
