cosanostra
Kind of curious what our recruitment team have been doing for the last 2 months. We've gone from signing plenty of absolute awful players to signing almost no players. I cannot believe we're starting a new league campaign with last years team minus Naismith and Irving but with a 20yr old loanee left back. If Neilson is not in charge of recruiting talent any more, you have to feel sorry for the bloke. What chance does he have if he's given almost nothing to work with despite the obvious glaring gaps in the squad.

Someone said it before - Neilson has almost zero credibility with a lot of the support at the moment. there are a few making out that it’s personal attacks on the club, they aren’t real fans etc etc but the reality is, it’s more desperation and anger on their part, that not everyone is conforming with them and burying their heads in the sand, through some misguided notion, that everything will be ok I am somewhere in the middle at the moment. I listened to JS interview and I’m being honest in saying that I liked what he had to say. Didn’t disagree with any of it, including the fact that we might not hear much and until something has happened Best guess is that there is still a month to go - by all means, if we are sitting as we are, one month down the line, then that will be a real concern Bottom line is, and as I said before, there ain’t much leeway for the manager currently. If we start poorly, then it’s obvious from reading a lot of the threads at the moment, that the knives will be out As much as I don’t think Robbie is the man to take us forward the recruitment team (to date) aren’t giving him much support and tbf that isn’t his fault Hopefully we get some good news soon. I’m hanging onto hope that we are just in the final stages with some players and hopefully this will mean some good news shortly. There is still one month to go - no point starting tantrums at this stage as it would be egg on the face time if we announce 3 new arrivals next week. You just don’t know which is adding to the already notable tension. Everyone else doesn’t seem to be having issues bringing players in early, unless we are playing a different strategy to everyone else of course

That strikes me as the same play as with CL, only different actors. My hope is that the manager is in charge of deciding who/what is wanted with Savage responsible for identifying possibilities and then the manager makes the final decision about our (main) target. He (JS) made it clear, that if Player X was unrealistic in his demands, he would be told to jog on. Rightfully so IMO We just don’t know what the strategy is around having back up’s if Plan A fails. He seemed bullish and also relaxed when interviewed, but with the new scout coming in, and an obvious revamp on the cards, it would be nonsensical to expect, come the end of August, we will be as we are now with the playing squad. Here’s hoping anyway. Fully agree with you - we are way short as it currently stands.

I don’t know if RN will say, give him X amount maximum, or whether he will leave it solely up to Savage to negotiate, and then Savage will work within a set budget. It may be as simple that they discuss the financial budgeting together - honestly not sure how this piece will work. Would be good to know. Any Hearts supporter is entitled to their opinion on whether they believe the current manager is the right person for the job As an FYI I did say a lot of the support. My frustration is that we are giving Savage until the end of the transfer window before judging him, but he (as part of the management team) is judged on results and we kick off properly this Saturday with one new signing. So in one fell swoop, Robbie and Joe have ready-made excuses for a poor start: "we couldn;t get the players in on time" etc etc On one hand i understand the difficulties clubs are facing getting players in - although i suspect this does not appkly as much for domestic transfers - but on the other i feel the club does not really appreciate how important a good start to the league campaign is. I never thought he was the right man in the first place in all honesty - putting some of last seasons results to one side. Still time left, although the longer it goes, the noise will increase. On another note, the scouting team has just been revamped - I am of the view that they should at least get a full transfer window before being judged or criticised No question, having a melt down at the Sunderland game was more to do with Brora, Alloa and that Maltese lot, than Sunderland, per se. That’s what happens though - it really is about belief. If it isn’t there in the first place, then the knives will come out Havent read anyone saying that they hope Septic skelp us! It’s late and it would be good to have some good news now, but until that transfer window is shut, new arrivals could be announced as early as next week, for all we know I don’t think anyone (as GR rightfully pointed out) including anyone at the club could be honest, and say, that we could go into next season with no further additions. Whether you like it or not, some have real concerns that he is the right man to take us forward - me included. I never thought he was the right man in the first place in all honesty - putting some of last seasons results to one side. Still he got us back up at the first time of asking and he will get his chance this season. Agree with this. Can’t see us walking into this season as we are. Read a few saying that they think they will smell us, which is an entirely different point And so you should 👍 At least two posters have said they hope we do poorly so Bob gets sacked. Good post. Don't really disagree with any of it.

Actually pretty fair. The thinking must be that the squad is good enough to "hold it's own" for 3/4 games. I'd agree with that unless we get 2/3 players wiped out in the first week. I'm also hopeful the hold up is the general English contract situation and we'll see movement next week and get at least a couple of signings in for our second league game. Time will tell. Think it’s more to do with getting the “right” deals over the line. It’s late and it would be good to have some good news now, but until that transfer window is shut, new arrivals could be announced as early as next week, for all we know I don’t think anyone (as GR rightfully pointed out) including anyone at the club could be honest, and say, that we could go into next season with no further additions. The club must know this as well and have to go all out to make it happen. 🤞... backing him is just something that has crossed my mind (with lack of signings) the last week or so... and may well be wide of the mark. Personally, I think it's more to do with a mixture of Covid and Brexit that's changing/skewing the transfer landscape... and coupled with our 'zero leaks' approach, it makes it doubly frustrating. It's been a strange window. 👍

Maybe they think that the sooner it happens, the better it will be for us and in the long run 🤷♂️ I honestly don’t know I hope he gets it right, but genuinely, I just can’t see it. I wasn’t behind his appointment in the first place I hate the hatred thing for him - all the phoodle shite - don’t agree with that at all. he’s an ex club servant and I fully believe he has the clubs best interests at heart. It was AB’s call to appoint him in his role - you can’t blame him for taking her up on it

Any Hearts supporter is entitled to their opinion on whether they believe the current manager is the right person for the job As an FYI I did say a lot of the support. That’s different to a majority of the support. I know a good few jambo’s who go to the games home, and away, and they are split right down the middle. Neilson doesn’t hold universal appeal, that’s for sure. You make a lot of sensible points. I'm simply wary of a myth growing that the majority of Hearts fans are currently anti our head coach. I know there is a loud section that detest him, but I think that's a minority. I think most are willing to give him an opportunity to succeed, and very few who are big cheerleaders. That's all imho, of course.

The more time goes on, the more I am wary, for want of a better word, that maybe RN is suffering a bit, from being perceived by some, as being one of a few in AB’s circle of potential Hearts Managers that would only be considered for the gig whilst she remains She went left field, with Stendel, and we all know what happened there, but I guess if you look at Levein, Cathro, Daly, Neilson and McPhee, they all have one thing in common, and that’s ultimately a pre existing connection through to AB. All 5 have managed in the 7 years, and since she arrived I wonder, and if it doesn’t, work out with RN, what, our next move would be ? Would AB have the guts to go left field again, or employ someone outside her own circle. She may very well do, but it’s still a question worth posing, and if she is still in charge, when or if, something happens RN has this season, and we can sign players for another 4 weeks so there is still time although we are cutting it fine. We have to start well. Not so worried about the Septic game, but more the other games that we are aggressive enough in our forward passing, pressing and tempo. Imagine going into the Aberdeen game with Gordon, souttar, Haring and Boyce out…. Scary and touch wood that this does not happen. I personally believe our first 11 just now will be good enough for 6th/7th/8th but 1 or 2 injuries we are in trouble RN and JS have openly said we are going to be bringing in players. The fact he said he was close to 2 signings on a fans podcast makes me think and hope it is the contract situation for English based players as he came across reasonably confident. As you say time will tell, let’s just hope they are worth the wait!

With the club going to ground and to protect any resultant leaks means that speculation within the fan base will increase. I suppose you can’t have one with out the other. Harry Potter
we have to be more clinical in front of goal, 21 shots , 57% of shots on target, one goal, Cant blame Neilson for this, the players have to shoulder some responsibility for not gaining a seeded place.
