looks pretty defensive at a glance, perhaps McGinn will be allowed to get forward frequently

think they will play McGinn high as you say. Almost in the number 10

How close is that to our best team? 🤔

Clarke likes Souttar and picked him often when he was fit, the one time he called up Porteous he never got a cap and fell behind some last minute emergency call ups in the pecking order. Clarke’s had one look at him in training and made his mind up imo

I think Considine is next in the queue if anyone pulls out just now

Souttars last call up was the game  in Israel under Mcleish when he was at fault for  a goal, got two bookings and injured. He’s not been near a squad since I don’t think.

Luxembourg manager looks like he covered himself in glue and ran through primark.

I'd say Hendry for Gallagher, maybe Fraser/Forrest or Patterson for O'Donnell.

FFS, totally against red cards in friendlies.

Scotland need to play against 11 men to prepare for a tournament. Clarke should be able to overrule the ref in a situation like this in a friendly (unless it was for serious dangerous play/fighting).

Just turned the game on, why we sitting so deep? Dunno how that boy can be arguing against the red card. Stupid foul.

Imo we shouldn't be playing teams the level of Luxembourg to prepare for a major tournament anyway.

I know what you mean but it kind of depends what you want out the game surely , low key last game for minutes and confidence before the tournament. Build up the quality of opponent until say Italy last match before but win or lose you’ve built intesity. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Not sure Brazil would horse us 6-0 though

We went to South America played reserves and got humiliated.  Every country in the tournament wants to end friendlies on a high surely?  Luxemburg are no mugs anymore either.

Ok i shall rephrase , i do not think this Scotland team would be horsed 6-0 by the current Brazil team.

Depends how much stock you put in them. Do you care about Hearts friendlies in terms of how it sends us into the season. Luxembourg arent any mugs but tbh im not sure what we are achieving in this game bar seeing how easily Robertson switches off or how deep we can sit if needed🤣

No need for your sardonic reply either. Lux ranked 96th, we're 44th. We're expected to beat them, if we don't it won't do confidence any good.

McGregor shouldn't start against the Czechs in my book or O'Donnell. Get Fraser and Forrest on and stretch their man short.

It's a bit different friendlies for a season and a tourny.  We probably have to give Luxemburg cash to play also.  And blending shape and style.

But we are.  Should we just play higher ranked sides?  Surely build momentum?

It was a blatant red though. 🤷‍♂️ I’m not saying I completely disagree but we were probably 2-0 up there without the ‘foul’, it’d be more farcical to allow that without punishment.

Stupid second yellows etc yeah, just encourage the sub instead but you can’t just ignore blatant reds and fouls.

Netherlands game put a bit wind in the sails, scrapping a win v low ranked opposition won't help maintain that. Wouldn't say it needs to be a higher ranked team than us but someone abit closer to our rank than 52 places lower.

Yes it will.  One was against a top ranked side the other gains momentum.

We now have the chance to rest Robertson, Tierney and McTominay and their ilk during the second half

Gilmour, Patterson and McKenna can get game time with perhaps Fraser or Taylor on the left
