Sturgeon absolutely slaughtering Celtic and Aberdeen. Bucking wonderful.

Hope they both get fined, both go bankrupt and the 2 cities are taken off scotlands map.

Footballers need to take full responsibility and punishments need to be stronger on both players and clubs. Its not in the least bit acceptable that they think they are above the rules.

You have to think there needs to be further punishment to clubs who players are breaking the rules that isn't just the game postponed.

THAT is how you deal with these wanks. Strong and decisive leadership without fear nor favour. This is bigger than football rivalry, and it’s about time these *******s realised that not every system of government can be intimidated and coerced the way Doncaster can.

That is now up to the football governing bodies. Let’s see if they do their job.

100% and it just shows the absolute void of leadership within the game that we've seen on display for far too long.   What other industry would actually put up with this level of incompetence and dysfunction?

another thing - why are they just postponing the matches? Thats gives incentive to teams to just break the rules if they dont want to play that week. If individual players break the rules, the whole club should be punished - if your team cant play, you forfeit the match. That means both Celtic and Aberdeens next games should not be left for another day, they should be punished severly and lose 3 points for each game they cant play. Its time these idiots are brought to light and the severity of the virus taken on board too. Screw them over

Quite incredible that so many people actually think that the government of this country would act out of partisan football sympathies when dealing the potential deaths of thousands of people under their care and protection. Depressingly narrow minded.

NS indicated that Aberdeen and Celtic games would be affected "this week". That may be one or two league games, so I would expect next week's UEFA qualifiers to go ahead as scheduled.

I think the First Minister agrees with you when she talks about the need for consequences. I predict the SPFL will come up with a punishment for further rule breakers, thus letting Celtic off the hook.

That is up to the SPFL and SFA. ScotGov have just told them that the two teams who broke the rules are not allowed to play for a while. Now it’s up to the football authorities to decide what format that takes.

Might depend on how many Celtic players contract it, Athletico Madrid have been allowed to play though.

Yeah can see what you mean.  Jason Leitch explained that this about public health and that rules were broken therefore under that guidance there are consequences.  They are that the footballers are at work and have either tested positive or broke the quarantine rules and so cannot come into contact with fellow workers or workers from another club so a length of time in isolation is required.

Then on top of that the SG have asked the SFA / SPFL what action they are to take and your point is right they could dock points.  The SG want these answers by the end of today.

All up football has now to sort themselves out and if any action looks weak bet the SG will come back with another kicking.

Doncaster will say** the players at both clubs have not committed a disciplinary offence that the SPFL / SFA has oversight of.  He'll say it's a public health matter that the SPFL can't legislate (or rather , refuses to legislate) for.

In the meantime, clubs which are playing by ALL the rules and running up huge costs for testing are being denied the chance to play while the guilty walk off scot free.

** That's if is ever asked , which he won't be ,  by any Glasgow journo.

EDIT : I MISSED THE PART WHERE NS SEEMS TO HAVE DEMANDED ACTION.

Hearts to be docked 10 points as a deterrent to other clubs.

It's not about how many players have or don't have the virus. This is about a flagrant breach of the agreed protocols between the football authorities and the Scottish Government.

The SFA and SPFL will want the SG to dictate actions, thereby insulating itself from having to act on their own. However, it seems that the SG wants the the football authorities to be seen to be acting appropriately.

Can you expand on this - I only caught the tail end of it on TV.

Yup, if I was an impartial SPFL official, who had worked tirelessly to get league up and running, who had warned clubs that dates for fixtures were very tight and seeing a possible 5 games now having to be rescheduled, that I would want to have a hard line on clubs to make players realise the seriousness of breaches.

But Celtic got caught so I can see it being a slap on the wrist and being told not to do it again.

Exactly. The SPFL and SFA showing their usual lack of fortitude and leadership, and the Scottish Government giving them a not so thinly veiled threat that they MUST deal with this appropriately.

Oh, how Celtic with that Scottish Labour were in power on Holyrood instead of the SNP. Tough shit Mr Lawell.

I suspect ScotGov would step in and have a thing or two to say about that.
