Nobody yet has even rejected an available vaccine yet, so we don't know what level of threat covid will present by the time a vaccine comes around. We may have a good treatment for it then (fingers crossed) and also achieve a manageable equilibrium with similar numbers levels of vaccination to flu. It's not worth getting worked up about until it actually becomes a real life issue really imo.

As to existential crisis? Come on.

Doncaster keeps referring to the virus as an existential crisis as well. I assume people who use the phrase have no idea what it means but think it will impress.  Absolute bollocks but quite funny too.

Allocation a initial levels as widely predicted.

N & S Lanarkshire get away with Level 3.

Edinburgh at least given an indication of moving down to Level 2 relatively quickly.

Where should the lines be drawn?

Those figures are as at 23 October.  The SG website has figures up to 26 October, e.g. Edinburgh's figures are 476 / 90.7. They will be updated again at 2pm with figures up to 27 October.

See if you were from any area of the country rather than being from by far the most infected part of the country you're posts would hold more weight.

You'd be better trying to educate your neighbours rather than people on here.

What was the point of announcing tiers and then placing everyone where they were already??

If you listened the other day you would know they will err on the side of caution first for the first week or so and then move about when they see things have settled / not settled

I don't understand why Edinburgh (I'll accept West Lothian) is the same as Glasgow when this new system is meant to allow for more finely tuned restrictions.

However, if you think it's because NS is worried weegies won't vote SNP if Glasgow was locked down more than Edinburgh then I'd politely suggest you're a rocket.

Mental that they keep mentioning how bad mainland Europe is as if that should affect us.

Shut the bloody borders... We are a tiny island who should have hammered this by now

You don't think it's political rather than scientific?

I doesn't seem particularly scientific but I don't see the political benefit? I honestly can't figure out the explanation for it.

I saw them in Blackpool around 1988.  Supported by the Grumbleweeds, Jimmy Cricket and Brian Conley (I think) 😬

They were mental, we made the mistake of having aisle seats about 5 rows from the stage and they pestered my mum and my gran all night 😂.

Their stuff is of course very dated, like most comedy from that era, but at the time it was ****ing hilarious.  I was howling.

RIP Bobby.

Yes Canon and ball weren’t exactly sophisticated humour ! Always felt they were mildly funny . I much preferred their com temporary double act “ little and large” however the best double act was the Two Ronnies imo . RIP to Bobby though . I saw Brian Conley in “ Oliver as Fagin . He was terrific . I always feel these performers are much better on

stage as it shows their talent better . I saw Lorraine chase in “ Me and my girl “ on stage and she was terrific but comes over on telly as just average . Had the pleasure of meeting her when she was in the audience when Lorna luft was In concert . Lorna is Judy Garlands daughter and what a pair of lungs on her ! Almost as good as her “ ‘mama” happy times thinking of this on this bleak day

Yep, just like I can't see the 'political' benefit to lockdown. As if it's in any way a positive for the govt. to shut down the country.

Give it rest. If you actually cared you'd know all you do is antagonise people and push them the opposite direction from what you want.

If is an accurate term.  The medical,  economic and societal consequences from not defeating covid are things that threaten or severely compromise our way of life.  A threat to the continuation of the way of life we had and want,  at least for the forseeable future.

Existential.

Please don’t let people from other households in your home

It is not just your own health you are putting at risk - it’s other people too. Including those in hospital too

No one in the country is allowed in other people’s houses (except a few exemptions such as child care etc)

Because as per the chart outlined above by Brian they make absolutely no sense and are clearly not based on the data available.  East Lothian in the same tier as Lanarkshire is absolutely scandalous.

FM urges people to follow guidance and 'save lives'

The first minister calls on the public to make sure they know the restrictions in their local area.

From Monday, a government postcode checker will help people do that.

She reminds the public:

  • Wherever you live do not visit other people’s houses.
  • And don’t travel to or from Level 3 areas

The first minister also highlights FACTS
