Those who are posting are the people who want to "get a life"; to get their own lives back and to start living, to enjoy the basic human rights to go where we want within the country and to travel abroad.

Banning people from leaving their own country was one of many unedifying features of communist eastern Europe up until 30 years ago.

Like today, some of the population became accustomed to sitting waiting for their next set of instructions from an authoritarian leader.

Comparing Sturgeon and the fat fool in number 10 to central and eastern European communist regimes, really,?

As someone married to a Pole brought up in those times I'm confident that your post is poorly executed hyperbole.

That's how it starts. Remember, Dominic Cummings, unelected but with considerable power at the time, wanted a Chinese style lockdown with people "welded to their houses".

It won't happen to that extent while we have the Queen as head of state but you're being naive if you think it couldn't happen here.

Incidentally, I have several Polish friends who I have known for more than 10 years. They have settled here, found several jobs with ease, bought houses and raised families.  My neighbour when I was a kid back in the 70s and 80s was Polish too, one of the post war generation that settled here.

I know the debt of gratitude that most of them have for the role Thatcher, Reagan and Gorbachev played in ending the tyranny of Communism.  We would be in a much better place right now if we could make that triple substitution and put the boards up to remove Johnson, Putin and Sleepy Joe.👍

Fair enough KvC. Just to clarify, I'm not trying to make a direct comparison, obviously there were terrible atrocities that went on. Just highlighting that these situations can regress and it doesn't take much for the population, as we are seeing, to become reliant on state instructions.  Not intending to suggest it would happen here.👍

Well here’s a bizarre tale . We went to friends last night to watch footie . Well intended to . The friend had been unwell beginning of week , “ like a cold” feeling . I said I’d bring along some LFT tests . “ you never know “ anyway he took one , I did and my partner . The friend one said positive for covid ! Ours were negative . It be and slightly embarrassing as we then had to leave ! Decked up the night big time really . 😭 anyway friend phoned up nhs and they said he was just to self isolate and not come for another test . I read those tests can be unreliable ? So looks like We may have to self isolate too ? Not sure of protocol ? I had been in friends company earlier that day having a coffee and was in his house for 30 mins or so . Looks like we just have to ride it out then ? Was also in his company Sunday night but he appeared fine then but got feeling he might have had it then as he now feels “ Fine “ today

If he names you as a close contact you should receive a text from test and protect.

Oh he’s not done that as he’s clueless with online stuff . Apparently they just said he had to self isolate . Didn’t seem at all concerned . He is going to take another test today as he really should have taken two . I did last night and both negative

You will start seeing increases in the more rural areas.  Aberdeenshire is always a few weeks behind the city and that is what is happening again. Hopefully we see those with larger numbers start to plateau and drop soon.

I never said I got involved in it . I just said I had never heard of it before until it was mentioned on this last year . So in effect I haven’t been involved in any salacious gossip as such as I have zero interest in whether she is gay straight bi Pan or whatever . There is two ways to look at it , none of anyone’s business or she’s being a hypocrite but I’m not in the camp of outing people . Unless they are in powerful positions and condemn gay or lesbian people . She doesn’t .

My niece and all her mates from school have tested positive in the past week (most with absolutely no symptoms), as have half of the youngsters at the supermarket where she works part time.

A couple of folk have tested positive after the, erm, heated exchanges of words that took place between 3 Rifles and the locals in the Goodies on Friday night too.

Auld Reekie will be snatching top spot from Scumdee before the fortnight is out. :jj:

I see East Lothian figures are through the roof, it must be from schools as most schools have got half their kids off with Covid from what I’m hearing
