Theyve likely been working like that for months and clearly not caught covid (or you hope the set up in store wouldve changed at the very least), yet its not safe for kids to attend school after Christmas (but alright to finish the term off before 🤷♂️). The 3 week delayed return will likely turn in to months of 'blended' (or realistically hardly any learning) yet its ok for supermarket and other key workers to go to work each day?? Im literally done with all the shite double standards and nonsensical decisions all the tin pot 'leaders' have come up with the past 9 months or so and continue to do so. At least covid can also be blamed for them not canvassing the doors at next years holyrood elections as I suspect a few of the MSPs would be in for some serious verbals. Wonder how they would feel if the supermarkets were shut to protect the staff there and everyone just received a basic food parcel on their doorstep once a week? Or if the hospitals shut completely (except for covid patients) to protect all NHS staff? My comparisons may seem a bit extreme to some but Ilgiven the low transmission rates with children (especially primary age) i just don't get this obsession with closing schools for prolonged periods

She needs to realise that she has completely screwed up the handling of the pandemic so far with Schools and Unis. From her point of view everything else must shut to keep them open when they have been running unchecked since August. She can't keep the economy shut down for months this coming year or its all going to collapse. Hospitality must be on the verge of folding, as will the nighttime economy. A change of approach is needed and that means enforcing the rules they already have, and also I'd suggest stopping mass gatherings in schools and unis as the pupils have ignored the rules from the start. Jambo-Jimbo
1 hour ago, Francis Albert said: Where did you read that? Page 14 of the Guardian? In that paper I read a week or two ago that Italy had overtaken the UK in deaths to date. That was on about page 14. When the same thing happened in reverse (UK going above Italy) it was the main headline and story on the front page. Indeed, I remember that, Kay Burley had Dr. Margaret Harris from the WHO on her show and Burley was asking how is the UK so bad, how have we got this so wrong etc etc etc. The reply from Dr. Harris was definitely not the reply Burley was wanting, because Dr. Harris said that you can't just look at numbers you also have to take into account age, health, lifestyle, all manner of different things, Burley was having none of that, so pushed again with the UK is crap agenda, to which Dr. Harris delivered the coup de gras to Burley, when Dr. Harris said that you in the UK also have the NHS. This clearly took Burley by surprise because Burley asked what the NHS had to do with it, Dr. Harris replied that the NHS has become very good at keeping people alive, people with serious multiple and complex medical conditions, which in many other European countries wouldn't still be alive, Dr. Harris added, Kay you have to understand that in the UK there are many thousands of very sick people with complex medical conditions and if it weren't for the brilliance of the NHS they wouldn't be alive now, Covid-19 targets the old and sick, so I am not surprised that the UK has some of the highest death numbers in Europe, in fact the UK is doing quite well. Burley ended the interview there, it clearly wasn't going the way Burley had wanted it to go, especially when Dr. Harris thought the UK was doing ok. Strangely the interview didn't get repeated numerious times throughout the day, like most others do, mmmm I wonder why that was.

First thing I'll be doing is a brisk walk to Bute House to shove a toley through the letterbox. Surely this will galvanise people into some form of collective action. The lassie giving the summary said that level 4 is being beefed up with consideration given to passing laws to keep us in our homes? Surely no? Brighton Jambo
As others have said the media have a huge amount to answer for in exacerbating fear in the population. For example the headline right now on Sky news is that Hospital levels are back to what they were in April. But they deliberately don’t give any context. April is not a traditionally busy month for the NHS but December is usually one of the worst so really not comparing like with like. The just want the dramatic headline though. I think when all this is over they will get a real backlash.

But is as inept as everyone else I remember reading some guff in the early days (it must have been in The Guardian) which suggested Nicola's and the New Zealand PM's success in combatting the virus showed that women were more suited to that sort of task. A bit before such a suggestion became "transphobic".

No context required.
