Not the end of the world, we’ve got our DM so I’d go for a more attacking midfielder or even a right sided winger🤷‍♂️

Wouldn’t be very surprising if Whelan does not join us. Family is settled in England and he’ll be able to get a team who pay more than we can. If true, we move on.

That's fine if another club wants him.  At his age, they may not be queueing up.

It would be good to know if we're still looking for players now that Damour has signed.

I don't think anyone can moan if we're done, hopefully not though.

None taken mate, it’s an Internet forum filled with hundreds of different opinions. I know that we both want the best for the club and probably both have total different views on how to achieve it. This nonsense about Clare’s attitude is just mental tho. If you don’t rate his ability, that’s fine. If you don’t think he is playing in the right position, that’s also fine. To say he has an attitude problem, hides or doesn’t try is just stupid.

Well said. I think the lad grafts actually. Looks a good type to me. Just needs to learn to take a hold of a game. Having solid workers around him and intelligence ahead will help him no end.

Saw Hearts posted on Facebook Levein’s comments on Damour - all the comments are slagging off Clare. Really can’t be arsed with some our support.

Get him tae ****.

If he hasn’t decided by now he is not going to be fully committed IMO.

Go all out for James Morrison instead. 👍👍👍

Beg to differ. Whelan and Damour as the defensive 2 in a 4-2-3-1 would be brilliant. Add a keeper and potentially Lafferty and we'd be laughing!

Why would we play 2 defensive midfield players at home ?

We should be on the front foot in the vast majority of matches and we do not need 2 such players

Oh and have you forgotten Haring who will be back in a month or so..a vital player for us

These guys are not like say Brellier. They can equally get forward. Whelan was taking corners for Aston Villa.

We would play a two defensive midfield players as that is how a 4-2-3-1 works. A defensive unit of 6 and an attacking unit of 4. Damour plays a lot of forward passes and wins the ball back. If we sign Whelan, Haring will be on the bench with Clare.

Sorry Mikey but I fail to see what taking corners has to do with it

Pressley took penalties but I didn't expect him to be a striker... Whelan does not score goals..over 400 games and 19 goals and not many assists either

ps I 'd far rather have Brellier than the Whelan of today

Think most of them sit behind me at Tynecastle. Either that or we have a lot of Idiots in our support.

Whelan and Damour get forward to support the attack. They don't just sit defending.

Wow I did not know that..the football knowledge some posters have astounds me

If you are happy with 2 defensive midfielders in the majority of matches then so be it but for me too defensive

The teams that win do so by scoring more goals than the opposition. Football has moved on as should we

Our manager gets enough stick from some without adding defensive play to the list of complaints

I wouldn't be having Haring on the bench tbh, he's one of our best players.

I'd say 4231 is a pretty attacking formation. 4 out and out attackers, it's more attacking that 433 and 442 imo

400 games and less than 20 goals does not smack of an attacking midfield player....sorry but trying to pretend he is something he clearly is not does not wash with me

By all means mention his attributes as a defensive midfield player but please none of this nonsense about supporting the attack

Yes Haring behind Whelan !!!!

...I think not

Haring scored 5 goals in 26 games...I know who is more of an attacking midfield player (even if he is not)

Ibrahim Tall

4-2-3-1

With attacking full backs and 2 wingers etc isn’t ‘defensive’. This issue isn’t playing 2 ‘defensive’ midfielders, it’s if we don’t balance that out by playing with width and taking defensive duties off others.
