Would rather have someone who was fit and ready to rock rather than a guy who will ‘probably’ be good when he gets fit but hasn’t been fit since February. Doesn’t really solve the short term problem for me.

There is no long term with Hearts as far as the playing staff goes. We all know that, CL and AB have said umpteen times - if the price is right the player is going. We have a stand to pay for so short term loan deals and free transfers are here for the foreseeable future.

Lafferty scored 12 league goals for us last season, Sow got 9 before he left end of Jan. Loads of nonsense that he doesn't score goals.

What utter nonsense. No matter what we all now think of Lafferty, at times he dropped back into a wide midfield role and worked his arse off for the team. Ross Co away last season probably being the best example. I remember Neilson trying to do the same with Sow and especially away from home, Sow was nowhere as good at it.

Lafferty was excellent at Dingwall, down to 10 men, Henderson played up front himself did a great job

MK Dons were relegated today from League 1 to League 2.

Osman Sow is out of contract with them in August.

I'm not usually one for signing previous players but Sow would, imo, be a good addition to the squad and if we retain Naismith I don't think we would need to sign any more strikers.

THOUGHTS?

No thank you a , that would be a step down , we need to be looking forward not backwards

he only had one spell here, no?

My memory might be failing me, but he played a season on loan, then went back to Kaunas.

The start of the following season we got another striker on loan from Kaunas (name escapes me) big guy played in a derby at Tynecastle and was generally pretty rubbish.  A few games into that season it was decided to bring Velicka back on a second loan deal.

Edit just remembered it was Benusis who was the big striker.

Is the guy you're thinking of Piliabitis or something? I seem to remember loads of pillow biting jokes at the time...

IF he passes the medical he will be another option up top alongside McLean, Uche, Naismith, Keena and Currie. Folk were crying out for pace. He has it to burn.

I suspect you would be greeting if we weren't interested tbh.

Loan or permanent move?

He's a free agent so it would need to be permanent.

I don't know about the length of contract yet but I'd guess we'd give him a year.

Ricardas beniusis, or benny-useless as he was named after the derby

Hopefully his injuries are behind him and he hasn't lost any of that pace.

Him and big Uche could be dangerous.

Can he play on the left also?

I feel we should be pushing the boat out now. I disagree entirely with this notion we should save the couple hundred (guestimate) grand now

It's not about the money though, is it? We've apparently agreed the fee to bring him in now, and are keen to do so - - but Teplice won't let him go until they've found a replacement.

Still got a year on his MK contract, maybe an initial 6 months with a view to keeping.

Jesus. What revisionist nonsense. You’d rather have Sow with questionable fitness and injuriy issues than Lafferty !! Beggars belief. Sow for Lafferty is NOT an upgrade.

We should never have sold him. Know we got a big fee but I still see selling Osman as one of the biggest mistakes made by Hearts in the Budge era.

Remains to be seen the impact the last 2 years of failure will have had on his confidence

I bet you look forward to visiting the dentist just for a laugh.

Could try

Oh Osman Sow, Oh Osman Sow,

Two metres ten, and bagged us tonnes of Yen,

Oh he’s Osman Sow.

which makes him about 6'11, rounded up to 7 ft!

You think this the BIG signing that was rumored to be happening on here towards the end of the month? The one BIGGER than Naismith?

Sow was class.  If he is still as good as when he left he'd be a great addition to the squad.  Would he be our main striker though? Or back up to uche + maclean?

I've not heard that from Hearts but if thats accurate then very pleasing news. It would be fantastic if we are able to add both he and Sow to the squad, tremendous news in fact if that materialises.

A fit Sow is an upgrade although I loved Laff.

I also think Sow is more of a team player.

Think this could be a v interesting season.

Very much what I'm thinking. Similar to how we lined up against Celtic with Lafferty and Mulraney on the wings. 4-3-3 / 4-5-1. That's not to say we won't still try other formations and partnerships.

So Make Some Noise..

I'd seriously question the judgement of anyone that doesnt think this would be a good move. The boy oozes class, is big, strong and quick. England didn't suit him, at Palace pre hearts or MK dons post hearts. Scottish football does and his physical yet quick and skillful ability will be a huge plus. I'd go as far to say that a fully fit Sow is +1 on Lafferty. Buzzing!

Mind that time he got sent off for unselfishly trying improve ‘Admiral’ Nelson’s coupon for him? Should have just flung him a cricket bat and some sandpaper and left him to it. Ungrateful ditch pig that he was.

He’s perhaps not as prolific in big games like Lafferty

People keep saying this about KL - when it was only actually Celtic he was 'prolific' against.

2 in 12 games against Rangers, Hibs & Aberdeen.

Sow has scored against both OF sides.
