Unless someone can think of another player, then I agree with you.

Maybe not the best example but Sir Rudolph?

Colquhoun was nowhere near as good second time round.

He was still pretty good.

Definitely. I suppose it didn't help that his first two seasons back the whole team was terrible. Some great moments in his second spell right enough - double at Easter Road, goal against Atletico, winner at Pittodrie for our first come from behind win in the league in about four years.

Got knackered in his first game back IIRC and barely played for us after that

Yeah.

I was at Killie and he was outstanding for the 15 min or so he was on the pitch before his injury.

I think it was knee knee ligaments if I remember rightly.

Seemed like his injury killed his pace so he had to play as a no 8 after he came back and was a completely different player to the one who used to go by three players and bang them into the top corner.

Big travelling support that day, I think boosted by McCann’s return.

It's like riding a bike. Once he gets back on, he'll score goals. Bring him home!

Not just aimed at you buddy, but why the feck this thread was brought back from the brink I dunno, Sow although a fans favourite was and never will be one of Craig's favourites....he never rated him in the first place and was chuffed we done so well from selling him.

What is it with Hearts fans and always wanting ex players to return?

Time to move on. We have good quality up front just now and Vanecek is still to arrive.

Absolutely spot on. Sow had his time with us, he has gone elsewhere, has failed to reproduce the same goal ratios for them and we now have three forwards in Ikpeazu, Lafferty and McLean who we can interchange game wise to counter any of the sides we will play in the league/cups and another due to arrive in January should the possibility of losing one of the first three mentioned come the end of this season.

Always seemed to play a couple of games, be getting back to where he was pre injury and get a knock. Looked good in the championship and his wee flick at stenhousemuir was special but not for me now.

Maybe because they are almost all good when they return.. With the exception of neil Mccann becuase he got injured.. There were folk on here claiming we shouldnt go back for rudi or berra  imagine.

If Sow is fit he coukd play in our team.. I doubt hes fit

Sow was a good striker for us but right now there are very big question marks over him.

Could probably do a job, but for me a downgrade from Lafferty so if that’s the level of replacement just don’t sell lafferty.

One day players will learn that they should not leave Hearts but not if we keep bringing them back...

As long as players can earn substantially more elsewhere I doubt it will ever change...

We need a centre half and a couple of other wee bits and pieces before we go signing a striker we'd have to work hard on to get back to his best. Not for me. Just get Vanecek in now and put all this to bed.

I can't understand why Levein wouldn't like him. Was a great finisher and had a bit of dig about him as well.

I remember the cowdenbeath 10-0 game, he came on and was determined that he would get a goal, which he did.

I don't see anything wrong with the fans wanting a favourite to return, like rudi, robbo and berra have all done and they turned out alright!

I thought the sarcasm levels were so far off the chart that it was clear I couldn't possibly be serious.

I agree though, this thread looking back is pretty sure stuff

Osman had a 2 or 3 month spell for us when he was awesome.

But let's be honest he wasnt great for 60% to 70% of the time he was here.

I don't think he's dependable enough for Craig.

It's not exclusive to Hearts fans. Look at every manager's job going. The first people linked are guys who used to be play for the club with the vacancy.

I'm talking about ex players returning as players, not managers.

And we are not unique in that either, the examples in this thread prove that fans typically want good players to return.. And they are usually a success. It pretty simple.. Nothing wrong witha known quantity

I know, but it's the same at every club, I just used managers as a further example.

Yeah I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek. Sorry should've used an emoji on that one.
