Actually the A 60 was the twin of the Morris Oxford a car I bought new in 1966, that car in the picture on shaking the old ,memory bank could be a Nash Metropolitan. Yes you are absolutely correct, I should have known the Edinburgh Police had a number of them. Austin for a time had an A designation for most of their models. Wasn’t the Austin Atlantic the model designed to be a big seller in North America? Edit. Just checked and it was. The Metropolitan was American made and sold in Europe, the Atlantic was made to make money from exports and duly flopped in the US with sales in the hundreds. It’s still the same city. Come back when the Hearts are playing, the stadium has changed but Gorgie hasn’t. There would be a queue of people in the diggers trying to buy you a pint. And you could officiate during all the JKB fisticuffs 😁 Do it! Its a nice thought but I doubt it will happen. I try to be the person I always was, but age, loss of the two women, wife and daughter in my life have sort of sapped. a lot of my energy away. The high light of my life is to get up in the morning and see what brightness JKB will put in my life today, and there is always something. But be assured if Covid goes, and my battery gets recharged, that invitation will be accepted. Then lookout for Fireworks, the Niddrie polis shall ride again hey ho on my old massive polis Raleigh. It turned out Jack was the son of the Martins family. He came to our house every Saturday evening for tea and brought with him a box of Martins delicious cakes. There was rationing at the time still so that treat was extra special. He gifted my Dad a Hearts season ticket which he kept until he came to Canada for his last two years after my mother died. Seeing anything Martins always gives me a taste for a Vanilla Slice or another delicacy.
