No, there is a system like that from another supplier, but the Decco Grassmaster system involves injecting fibres individually every 2.5cm. A small part is above the ground, but most is below, for the roots to bind with.

The fibres can be injected before or after the grass has been sown.

Ours isn't Desso Grassmaster but similar instalation.

Decco

It's certainly been reported that that's what we're installing, what have you read?

That link only says they'll be doing the work to be fair, it doesn't actually say what system we're installing. I've Googled it, it doesn't look like we've declared what system we've gone for, but the press assumed it was grassmaster.

Having looked up Sis, it does look likely that they'd be installing their own system rather than anyone else's though so I've clearly must gone with whatever the een said

Scratching my head a bit with that photo, I thought the artificial strands that were to be mixed in with the real grass would be visible already. That's assuming they are green, am I missing something?

Won't be injected till the grass starts to to grow. Couple of weeks time maybe.

The Future's Maroon

Of all the threads I've ever seen on JKB, this one deserves an award (granted - it may need to be created)!

I can't wait till the grass starts to come through, grown men will get their knickers in a twist over this 'thing of beauty'.

A fibre injected every 2.5 cms, this could take a wee while:huh2:oh wait, maybe pre-injected.

It’s done by a machine that moves across the pitch.

I was expecting it to be hand woven. Cheapskates.

There's a video above showing how the world cup final pitch has been put down. TBH we might not be doing it exactly the same way, but I'm guessing it's close.

A few years ago driving from North Berwick on the road that goes through Whitekirk we passed a field which was being used to grow sports turf which would then be harvested for rolls of turf. The field was huge and stretched for acres. It truly was a "thing of beauty" .... just wish we had a football in the car with us

Stewart's Turf. They had or still do have a lot of fields around Whitekirk.

Not a massive slope. But you can see it from picture

My seat is even closer to the pitch now and I didn't even have to move.

A mind numbing grass growing time lapse is all that's needed to finish off this thread.

"GrassMaster reinforces a 100% natural grass pitch by vertically inserting 20 million polypropylene (PP) fibres into the soil. The 20 cm long PP fibres are injected by computer-controlled machines, 18 cm deep so 2 cm remains above the surface, in a grid about 2 x 2 cm. The natural grass roots entwine with the fibres and grow deeper and wider, building a stronger and healthier rootzone. The PP fibres above the surface ensure an always even and stable surface. GrassMaster can be installed before seeding, after seeding or on grass sods"

Temperatures set to rise from the weekend onwards.

Looking at the pics I’d be surprised if we were behind schedule come July.

We can't weld it in place, we need to grow the grass to 15 centimetres when Celtic are in town.

That weld only covers too short, you can still grow it longer.

Thread was exciting to start. But now it's a bit like watching grass grow.

Aye, but can you hear it grow or see "rainbows in the evening"?

They're part of Turfland having been taken over twice.  First time was by Harrowden turf.   Still use the same branding though.
