Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium where today's opening match and the WC final will be played. Same type of pitch as ours.

Anyone got any photos?

Sprinkler system works well at least!

Actually the pipes have burst. It'll need started again, at great expense including a huge fine for not being able to fulfil fixtures at the start of the season.

Think that game is being played at Cowdenbeath’s Central Park, so the first home game is actually 16 days later against Cowdenbeath in the league cup.

Was watching the England game tonight. Overhead cameras made it look like an artificial pitch.

Is this what we will be getting?

Im pretty sure the Volgograd authorities will want to hang on to it having received 55 million in grants.

Scratching my head a bit with that photo, I thought the artificial strands that were to be mixed in with the real grass would be visible already. That's assuming they are green, am I missing something?

Scott Brown will be along to complain the stones are too big. They'll hurt Celtic players feet.

I hope we will have the common courtesy to have Broony along to inspect it when it is complete.  He can provide valuable advice on grass length and watering before 17 year old Harry takes the piss out of him again.

This pre-season is so boring that grass growing is about the most exciting thing that's happening.

Couldn't someone start a thread praising something Hibs have done or slagging off Gary Locke that I could sink my teeth into?

Sparky, he has more knowledge, as he had it down onto his head.

So the seeding must come first as the sprinklers are on but maybe that is just to settle the soil prior to that happening. I suppose the artificial part is placed over the growing grass in a sort of net structure then.

No, there is a system like that from another supplier, but the Decco Grassmaster system involves injecting fibres individually every 2.5cm. A small part is above the ground, but most is below, for the roots to bind with.

The fibres can be injected before or after the grass has been sown.
