Wish the guy all the best in his career if he goes to Wigan & we get a bit of cash. Lots of players have left our club but very few have split our support in the way Walker has and probably wouldn’t be greatly received doing the half time draw. Very badly advised but you would need to question his intelligence being led down the road he took.

A sell on so we can get a share of his future transfer to the Accies

Good luck Jamie. I hope he kicks on and has a fantastic career and rises to the top. He has a great potential but he needs to put in the hard work to be successful.

The rangers saga obviously turned his head.  He has only showed what he is capable of in glimpses this season. In hindsight we should of sold him in the summer if we were getting 600k upfront. If it was in instalments as seems to be the case with the rangers then I'm happy we kept Walker.

I'm disappointed to see him go but glad we got something for him and wish him all the best.

If and when Jamie signs it will be interesting to see, even read,  what he has to say about his departure

Do we really know that for sure? They did other business in the summer and are about to pay north of £1M for Murphy

Don’t know the whole story of what happened last deadline day. Do know for a fact that the following day Rangers told two of their youth players that Hearts had specifically requested they were part of any deal. One was the boy McCrorie, that has since went on to cement a starting berth at Ibrox.

A sell on clause is a must as I'm sure if he knuckles down he could be worth a right few quid in the future.  Hopefully his ambition is not to go there then head to The rangers. He could go so much further than The rangers.

Exactly. Wigan look like they will be back in the championship and that’s is a great level for Walker to test himself. He will also make a lot of money whilst down there.

Wish him the best of luck and should always be welcomed back to Hearts he was a good player for us.

100%, there's no need to say anything other than thanks and good luck!

Of course if will be the usual, 'I enjoyed my time, thanks to the club and fans etc' guff.

Changes nothing. He made his bed a long time ago.

The Future's Maroon

Was one our best players for a period and possibly a "1st pick", I will remember those times fondly.

However, after he got a bad injury he just didn't seem the same player....still showed the odd flash of what he was about but all that considering, now is probably best for him and the club to move on.

Hopefully we get the £300k from Wigan and I wish him well....if he had sauntered off to Newco for free it would have stuck in my throat a bit.

All the best to him.

I agree - he was great a long time ago doesn't matter what is said after we can all think what we like about him

Actually he's said virtually nothing publicly during his Hearts career so my guess is he'll say nothing now too...

Wish the laddie well. Yes he was badly advised at some point, I’m not gonna let that tarnish how he’s been a great servant to the club. Through admin days etc he was one of the kids who stepped up to the plate. In championship winning season he was excellent. He goes with my best wishes and I hope he goes on and proves himself down south. Good luck Jamie and all the best young man. Go and do yourself justice.

Agree with this. A lot of the boys stood up when we were skint, Jamie amongst them.

Despite the fact he’s been shite for the last year, I wish him well - he was a good player  for us up til then. I’m glad he’s moving on though as his performances have not been good enough for far too long.

The young players in the team would do well to look at him as an example of how not to handle things when you’re looking to move on. In complete contrast with people like Neil McCann and Paul Hartley who are still universally loved despite moving onto the OF. And they should also avoid his agent like the ****ing plague.

Very good post. I was angry with Jamie and his posse in the summer for disrespecting the club. I've cooled on that and just think it's another example of a laddie squandering his talent.

I don’t think we’ll miss him all that much tbh. I have every confidence that CL will replace him with a player who will offer more than we’ve got from JW over the last year or so.

I also reckon he’ll be back up the road within a couple of seasons.

Lets be honest, we've been without him since we pumped the huns 4-1 under Cathro.

I think if we can get £300k for him then we should offer it to Hamilton for Temps.

We need to replace Walker as the squad isn’t good enough and Temps is bang on form after getting player of the month.

I don’t think Walker realised how good he has had it with Hearts as he is given a free role and looks short of pace and confidence. I hope he does well down south but can’t really see it.

He has been rubbish for the last calendar year but we have had decent service before that and I wish him well. The whole scenario has been a bit of a shambles and there needs to be lessons learned by the club so we manage these situations to better effect in the future. Signing new contracts and selling at the right time is important and we don't seem to have a strategy that works. The Walker social media postings should also be used as an education piece in the academy.

What could the club had done to achieve a better with Jamie?

Who Templeton?

His contract runs to the summer. We could sign him on a pre now, but tbh I'd rather we paid a token fee to Hamilton, he could very well help us get our noses infront of hibs come the end of the season. Its a tough one because you can bet Hamilton will be watching the news knowing we have 300k to spend so Templetons value to us just went up a bit :(. Then again, didn't Webster make it so you could buy your contract out? :D

Cadden quite possibly is out of our price range now anyway, Motherwell will want close to what we wanted for Walker.

Not wanting to be all doom and gloom haha, we could probably get a few loanees and spend the money on essential positions (like and attacking and defensive midfielder) and plug any gaps with loanees?

They need to be more strategic with contract offers for one. As there are only 2 transfer windows each year you need to have a contract signed or know that it will be refused with a sellable asset with at least 3 windows in hand and then decide on action to take i.e. 18 months in advance. It's about being decisive and proactive. With the amount of analysis that takes place in the game now I don't doubt there will people who specialise in advising clubs in this field.

Getting sick to death of folk on here chastising fans who show discontent towards this guy.

Decent prospect who looked to be finally showing his potential last term before spitting the dummy out at a new deal which would have made him highest earner in the team.  Linked with a call up to the Scotland senior prior to this incident then like playing with a man down post incident. Summer antics (including very unprofessional social media) and a piss poor injury hit first half of this season, it's little wonder folk want rid of this pre Madonna. Take the money and run.

Agreed. Better to get rid before he goes post Madonna

Wanted to be a True Blue but was suspected of being a dirty little Material Girl.     He should thank his Lucky Star he's blessed to be a Hearts player.    He used to be our Ray of Light but I can no longer Justify my Love of him.

Third tier of English football ? Dear oh dear, his career is over.

They said the same about Ryan Fraser moving to Bournemouth. Where's he now? Or Scott Arfield? If Wigan get promoted as looks likely, one season in the Championship gives Walker a shot at the biggest league in the world. It's a much bigger showcase if he can replicate his form of a year ago. The most obvious parallel is Barry McKay, who's doing well with Forest. McKay was nowhere near as consistent or effective as Walker when he was at Rangers.

James Mcarthur and James Mcarthy both moved to Wigan also and are now Premiership regulars.

Albeit Wigan were a bottom Premiership/Top championship side at the time.

Transfer market values Temps at £225k so don’t think I was too far out with my valuation.

Only 28 so should have a good three seasons ahead of him.

Was player of the month ahead of a lot of supposedly better players.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-templeton/profil/spieler/54268

Think it would be a mistake to wait until the Summer as our squad is too small and Temps plays the same position as Walker. He has also been playing regular so should be fit and able to hit the ground running.
