If anything this shows the core to be truer to Labour.

The rest have gone SNP and Tory for constitutional reasons. Hangers on have fled.

A lot more may take flight to the Tories in June.

A rubicon has been crossed today. Some may find it wasn't as hard as they thought it would be.

56 SNP, 3 Tory, my GE prediction.

EastRen, Berwick and Fluffy will be the Tory seats.

Utter bollocks.

Edin West and East Renfrew will not go SNP. So 54...

23% plus or minus 1.5.

Just let that sink in. And that's from an ex UK Ambassador. And voted one of the top 100 bloggers in the world.

It's still a landslide no matter how much lipstick you shove on the pig.

You shouldn't describe your leader in such terms.

Couldn't possibly be a landslide. The SNP haven't called indyref3. That's the MO when they get a landslide. She probably calls a referendum when she wins at monopoly.

Good effort though on a single issue that mattered not a jot to local issues.

Dusk_Till_Dawn

Not so shocking is that the results now see Mooth claiming victory from a distant second behind an SNP that has not lost ground or support. The truly shocking thing is the undoubted rise in support for the Conservative Party and especially so in places like Glasgow and Lanarkshire.

The rise in support of the Tories is a direct anti-independence vote. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to deduce that. But a great many of these people have forgotten about or discarded their political principles in order to jump into bed with their best current bet to oppose a referendum. Maybe we shouldn't expect our politicians to be principle driven if the voters so easily sell out themselves.

So basically the SNP can obsess about independence but no-one else?

Chortling away here at the thought of the Unionists celebrating not winning a council election in Scotland. Again.

When you look at the totals Unionist parties 57:43 independence parties..

Which given it was a relatively low turnout which is usually bad news for pro union parties I'd say the SNP won't be celebrating too hard.. A bloody nose if only a small one..

There's a case to be made that the SNP haven't done all they could, but anyone who isn't a millionaire needs their head looked at for voting Conservative.

They believe in socialism for the rich. Take as much as possible from the state, give nothing back to the state, profits to rich business owners. Insanity.

Railways, affordable housing, NHS, libraries, benefits for the needy. All used to be good things. Now they're tools for the profit of the rich or being abolished and the Tories' useful idiots are helping them do it. Encouraged by th owners of media groups who benefit from Tory policies, of course.

Great post. It all trickles down.

WTF has N.I. Got to do with Scotland ?

I couldn't give a feck about that shithole. Typical republican sympathizing shite trying to bring the N.I. Troubles into the Scottish Indy debate. Feck Northern Ireland I'm only interested in Scotland and that's a Scotland that's part of the union. You want to fight for oirish causes then bugger off to Ireland or the North and argue there.

I thought getting the larger numbers in the results meant a better outcome than those with the smaller numbers. Beating the contestants with the smaller numbers. Winning,

Seems that's no the case. Get back to school Vic.

Normally such a scenario involves the 'winning' side making improvements to the country while running it effectively.

Not fecking around for 43 hours on Indy splaff while spending zero hours on the educational system.

Maybe I'm too picky.

How's the austerity party getting on with the national debt? I'm sure all those impoverished and vulnerable people out there are choking to find out if their ex-benefits have wiped it out yet.

Meanwhile... Osbourne and Cameron. Whatever happened to those guys? Hope they're making ends meet.

UK Would be much closer to 0 deficit if it were for out part in it.. We should raise taxes to pay for our additional spent on Nicolas vote buying policies.. But we couldn't do that could we.. Would draw to much of a lens on the reality when people question why.. Would cost too many votes.. SNP will save all that nastiness for post independence..

No surprise a Northern Irishman voted no. Do you feel proud you went to Ireland and colonised a part of a proud country? The Unionists are dieing out in Ireland like they are in Scotland. The Empire is crumbling mate.

If I posted that the other way I'd get a warning.

What do you make of the European colonisation of America?
