Has the final capacity been confirmed yet, or are the hobos trying to put a negative slant on a very good statement?

Staying at Tynecastle was the call made. Believed to be fans preference.

There have been certain limitations with the site and then the actual configuration. I tend to trust what the club have said but  there are people who think we could have had higher capacity. Club did hold consultation events but few bother with that.

If demand is high then people will be unhappy

Success on pitch should cancel that out but then there will be questions asked

Thanks for a sensible non-rabid reply. Absolutely the most important thing is we’re staying at Tynecastle. Anything else would have been a disaster. FWIW I think the finished article will be tremendous. No one will give a hoot about all the wee particulars when we’re sat watching the football. This is a discussion forum though. I can’t see why we can’t discuss things without being attacked.

The capacity is insignificant when thinking of the alternative. But people working on the site have expressed concern that the capacity has gone down and Ann has released a detailed statement that doesn’t mention capacity so naturally there’s some curiosity.

So many bullies on here.

Is the fact it could be a country or of hundred less really an issue ? Really ? In the grand scheme of things

No. It’s not. It’s a nice milestone though and those were the expectations that were set. That’s all.

Re capacity I think it will be officially round the 20000 mark but in practice we’ll not see more than 19800 sold and occupied seats  due to segregation + corporate stuff

Maybe cause she one of the few promises she made was that it would be a 20k+ stadium. Why is it not ok for fans to ask these kinds of questions?

Seems more like whatever she says and does you along with a few others will always be happy. Literally lap up anything no matter what just to prove you’re the biggest and most loyal fan. It’s tedious. It will be a huge disappointment if the capacity doesn’t breach 20k and it doesn’t make you a bad fan for thinking that. Give it a rest.

The only people that bother if the capacity is over or under 20k are hobos

Where's your season ticket, Jamie?

Is it in the premium section?

The "myth" was perpetuated by Ann and the board from day one.

December 2015 AGM - http://cdn.heartsfc.co.uk/assets/downloads/2015 AGM Minutes-Final.pdf

"The Board have set a benchmark , whereby the new stand must increase capacity. We must be realistic when doing this as we want to continue playing in a ‘full house’ environment. A minimum of 20,000 capacity is the benchmark."

Point 1 on the Stadium Update, March 2016 - http://www.heartsfc.co.uk/news/5066

"1. Redevelop the main grandstand to provide additional capacity from current figure of 4720 seats to over 7000 seats increasing the total stadium capacity from current licensed capacity of 17529 to over 20000 seats."

Stadium Update from Ann, March 2016 - http://www.heartsfc.co.uk/news/5056

"The new stand will, of course, also incorporate new hospitality suites, office space, clubstore and ticket office…with space for much more. The result will be a modern stadium boasting a ground capacity in excess of 20,000."

Stadium development update, April 2016 - http://www.heartsfc.co.uk/news/5098

"What will the capacity be after the completion of the new stand?

Capacity will rise to over 20,000 seats"

Club update, May 2016 - http://www.heartsfc.co.uk/news/5161

"So, in short, we have a two-year development plan, starting very soon, which will see us have one of the finest stadiums in Scotland…with a capacity of 20-21,000…and UEFA standard facilities."

Stadium Update, May 2016 -

"Again, subject to planning and HSE approval, the club believes the Main Stand – giving the ground a total capacity of under 21,000"

Planning application - http://citydev-portal.edinburgh.gov.uk/idoxpa-web/files/D62AC7979FF1176E4BDE6B4DE55AA03D/pdf/16_03823_FUL-_PT01__PLANNING_APPLICATION-3398784.pdf

"The stadium is regularly full and there is substantial interest from fans asking to increase the number of seats. The expansion of the Main stand will bring the total capacity to 20 099."

So I'm guessing the board, and Ann, and the architects and everyone else involved with the club are "hobos" too. There's been no word on the capacity recently, so I've no idea if it's going to be under 20k, but I don't understand why anyone is pretending it was never a focal point of stadium redevelopment, or really important to the board that we hit the 20k mark. It was one of the initial points raised at the 2015 AGM ffs. As a MINIMUM. Why are people so intent on pretending only hibs fans would care when clearly the bloody board cared.

2016 AGM and they stress the importance of the increased capacity. More seats = more money. http://cdn.heartsfc.co.uk/assets/downloads/2016 AGM Minutes.pdf

"The biggest impact will come from increases in 2 main revenue streams due to increased capacity – ticket income and hospitality income. The additional 3000 seats could generate approximately £1 million additional ticket income and we will have considerable scope to better that via kiosk income."

Now can we put to bed the "myth" that only Hibs fans care about capacity. Thanks.

Wouldn’t matter if it wasn’t how it was sold to us. You can only have disappointment if you have expectations. If she’d said it’s possible we’d get 20k then we’d be waiting on good news. She said we would so now we’re waiting on bad news. Not a difficult concept. You don’t care and that’s fine. Some people do.

If its 19999 I’d be counting the ballboy stools.

If counting ballboy 'stools' is what you want to do, then this aligns with your posts being full of sh*t

I literally googled "stadium capacity heartsfc.co.uk" and copied the first few links. Took me less than 10 minutes. Wasn't going to bother but the constant insistence that nobody cares about capacity was getting a bit tedious. Hopefully now you've been shown that Ann, and the board, care about capacity, we can put that line to bed.

What have I possibly said that would need attention from a Mod? I literally posted quotes from Ann Budge. That's it.

I found it interesting to see that the doors for the turnstiles are glass. I have never seen that before for a stadium, but I think its a great touch and adds to the nice look of the stand.

The old stand needed replaced and due to the size of the plot and building regulations we were limited to how big the new stand could be. I’m sure they’ve tried to maximise the number of seats and we’ll end up with what we end up with. Who really cares if it’s bigger or smaller than Hibs or any other stadium?  I’m sure our average crowed will remain the highest in the league year on year out with Celtic and Rangers.

It should also allow us to sell more tickets to home fans whilst also selling the entire Roseburn stand to away fans for the cat a games.  Again the aim is to get as many hearts fans as possible in the ground whilst making as much money as possible - which means selling as many tickets as possible in the away end.

Once its up and running the new stand will all be about maximising match day and non match day income and All the new facilities will allow us to do this.

I was wanting us to make it the biggest football ground in the capital.. however I understood with money and time constraints we couldn't do it.. If we came in at under 20k it would be disappointing..

Bang on, it would be nice if it's over 20k but as long as I have my seat I am happy.

In recent years we nearly had our beloved ground sold and left us with no home. A couple of years ago we nearly went out of business. In a few weeks we will have a fantastic stadium, with excellent facilities, the best atmosphere in Scotland and most importantly it's still Tynecastle Park.

Dear Mr. Gustas

I am writing to inform you of a terrible crime committed against you and your people. The football club Heart of Midlothian in Edinburgh, Scotland (close to my home village of Lochend) had made certain promises to pensioners of your great country. They had guaranteed that 20099 of your people could attend football matches in their new stadium, but it is my sad duty to inform you that this is not the case. Only 19993 pensioners will be able to fit into the ground. If you study the attached documents you will see for yourself the terrible catalogue of lies and deceit. I have produced several spreadsheets to further support my point.

They are in excel as I prefer them to PDFs.

Yours slaveringly,

Certainly seems to be the way. Very 1984. If you don't think like us you're a wrong'un. Get him!

I don't know for sure but I can't possibly imagine that Romanov was afforded so much slack. He saved us too. He stopped us leaving Tynecastle. He was regularly ridiculed for his statements and actions. Seems every move Budge makes is 100% the best move she could have made and nothing else was ever on the agenda. Is it racism? Is everything ok because Ann is Scottish? Is it sexism? Do we protect her from criticism because she's a woman? Even shown proof of how important the 20k capacity was to everyone within Hearts and instead of accepting it they ridicule the messenger. No wonder we're so soft as a club right now.

We've got the grey panels because of insulation reasons.

We've got the wee font because of advertising and signage rules.

We've got grey cappings because it needs to be in keeping with the non-grey highschool.

We may be under 20k capacity because we never wanted to be over 20k - who cares about capacity!

We'll not have restricted view seats on sale she says, but now we well, but that's fine, who cares about that! stop your moaning hobo.

I'm actually loving the new stand too. Having now seen it in the flesh it's all going to look great, particularly when the Plaza is complete and tidy. Inside was always going to be tremendous with the 4 steep stands towering over the pitch. A few extra seats won't matter on match day. The only thing wrong is that the project has been managed by raising expectations quite high and then the last year has been statements that slowly chip away at those expectations. With compromises to time scales, design, hospitality, potentially capacity etc. If we'd undersold and overdelivered we'd have a very very happy support with nothing to complain about.

I'm Hearts through and through and many of my Hearts supporting friends think the same as I. We've been ridiculed in the media for the amount of changes we've made. This little gang hut where people stick their fingers in their ears and pretend they're talking directly to Budge isn't indicative of that support as a whole. It's far too insular here.

Oh hey, I've made a post that has more than 4 words and no smilies - guess I'll be called a hobo or a sad sack again.
