All roads lead to Gorgie

No need. Freely given in the spirit of 'Together'.

I will add, though, that it's blooming big, rather imposing and is going to look superb.

Nice one  :2thumbsup:

Is the mosaic floor being left in place or is it being lifted and moved to a new location,do you know?

It's been protected as we type, it was going to cost far too much to even attempt to move it and then the risk of damaging it was too much.

It's going to be viewed as a "masterpiece" from where the original main door used to be, it's not going to be walked upon.

Thanks for the info. I look forward to seeing it in the future. It's nice to know a small part of the old stand will survive.

Marooned in Sec Z

Was passing earlier so managed to get couple of pics. First time I've seen it for a while, amazing progress and it's going to be something else once completed.

Won the League Cup in 1958 and 1959, League Championship 1959/60, League Cup 1962, First Division 1979/80 and the Scottish Cup 1998.

There were no badges on Hearts strips of the 50's and 60's

That is correct but the crest was introduced in time for the 1958 League Cup Final, the players and officials wore the crest on their blazers.

As far as I'm concerned that crest represented the club ( apart from the Gorgie Rd End entrance sign ) from 1958 onwards.

The Ajax style top of 72/73 had an underwhelming HMFC in the middle of the maroon part. Similar to the RFC that Rangers had on theirs.

Wearing club crests on shirts arrived quite late for Scottish clubs.

From an engineering and project management perspective, this redevelopment has been a remarkable achievement.

Everyone involved should take a bow. :bravo:

What is it going to be once it's completed? Think everyone was hoping for a replacement main stand, it's a bit late in the project to break the news that it's going to be "something else"!!!

Drove past for the first time since the works started taking place last night. Pictures don't really do it justice.

We, as fans should be supremely proud of what we've managed to do over the past 3 years off the pitch. This new stand really should be a driving force behind our positive future of our amazing club. Yes on the field matters since the turn of the year have made things feel a bit down & negative but every time this thread is updated with new photos of this stand showing the progress being made, we really, really should beam with pride.

I cannot see anything but a positive future for Hearts. This blip in the road (January till May) should be seen as one step back before we make five steps forward. We as a fan base should use this as a spur and get right behind the owner, management, current squad and be unified going forward.

Ive never truly noticed how much the truss bulges until seeing that viewpoint. Quite unique.

Pretty sure that image is skewed somewhat. It's like a giant banana up there

I think that is just the wide angled shot that is showing it like that. I think it is just the same as the trusses on the other stands.

Laurence's photo was from last Friday. There are six pillars in that photo, but we were down to three by Saturday.

The photo looks almost a week old?

I'm sure about 50% of what you see was gone on Sunday.

It's still a great photo.

It doesn't bulge as much as my trousers do whenever I look at the new stand.

An old pic from the stand of Hearts v 3rd Lanark paying their respects to Hearts' Manager Dave McLean who had died earlier that week

The depth of the grass "run-off" behind the goals and in front of the Main stand would surely suggest the pitch size must have been at it's smallest ever?

Be interesting to know the actual pitch size back then. The track used to be massive on the stand side.

Alan Anderson, Neil Murray and that might be JJ at the back, in addition to the others identified.

Can't see Kenny Aird. Too early for him I think.

I don't think the pitch was smaller then, I think it was actually bigger.

It looks like the new stands encroached and reduced the size of the pitch.

The terracing would've taken up less space than the stands we have now I think

I thought it was him to the right of Carruthers. I'm maybe just getting old.

Great photo though. Brings back so many memories. The front two were my first football heroes.

Harry Kinnear behind Carruthers ? Jimmy Cant right at the back ?

Is that is that John Hagart behind Andy Lynch? Could have been the trainer at that time.

Bit of a surprise seeing Jim Cruickshank running. Word at the time was he'd do anything to skive off such stuff. He didn't see the point for being a good goalkeeper. He was probably right as well. These days goalkeepers get specialised coaching, which maybe doesn't include too much of this kind of stuff.
