After 21 years of voting for SNP I have stopped supporting them and will never vote for them again.  I've had enough of listening too, seeing first hand and reading about SNP supporters and their bullying, trolling and general nastiness to last me a lifetime.  Very disappointed as I thought the party and supporters were better than that.  I think the SNP are much more mainstream than they would like to admit and as for their grasp on economics.....

 This is where I am at - the discrepancy in FFA in 18 months if we got independence now they need 7 years has me worried - jury is definitely out.

Fair enough, and I get that the unionist parties (especially the Labour party) need to evolve to cope with the new political landscape.  A constitutional convention/commission looking at the whole UK would, I agree, settle things for the time being, perhaps putting the SNP's gas at a peep.

 

But it is how the Labour Party reacts to this new reality.  The door is open for them to succeed in Scotland.  Whether they take the opportunity is to be seen.

I have firm opinions and I'm not shy of debating them with friends, but despite having the right and ability, I haven't voted in the UK since I left, it just doesn't sit right.

 

Re meal expenses, I've never claimed these either.

I got sent to India a few years back to do some call centre training and was invited to claim back expenses.

It seemed ridiculous to me that the company were suddenly paying for my meals when I would normally be eating anyway so I didn't claim.

 

So no, I don't agree with meal allowances and living expenses either.

There was a labour guy on QT last night I forget his name but he was typical of what labour is these days to me. 100% just saying what he thought people wanted to hear. Didn't convince me that he meant a word of it or even believed it himself and tried to change his tune once or twice. They are an absolute shambles.

In terms of traditional Labour vote then you are right.

I suspect that as politics in general has lurched to the right, so to has the meaning of socialist/socialism (unless used pejoratively, of course!)  Social Democratic may be a better phrase, imo.

An I nteresting conundrum that fails in line 1 given that average weekly income (March 2015) was ?488.58 = ?1,954/month.

Total Hours Paid: 156.41=?1120.37

Deductions: N.I = 59.24

                    Income Tax = 59.40

                    Court Order = 108..36 (Council Tax repayment) 

                    Pension = 6.72

                    Admin = 1.40 (a trivial sum but considering the the size of the company it all adds up, so the shareholders are happy)               

Total Deductions = 235.12

Total Pay = 885.25

 

Other Income: Tax Credits  = 212 (now stopped as of this week)

                        HB = 50

 

Total Income: ?1147.25

 

Outgoing: Rent = 550

                Utilities = 80

                Council Tax = Nil (can't afford) 

                Travel = 60

                Internet = 26

                Mobile = 14

                TV licence = N/A

                Food = 140

                Clothing = very much nil for about the last two years.

  

Total Outgoing: ?895.

I've supported the SNP in the past, mostly in the Scottish Parliament elections but as I'm no longer in Scotland, then the following can be disregarded (although I'm still in the UK).

 

It's time they got on with governing Scotland as part of the UK, instead of whining about more powers and another referendum. There was a referendum. It was less than a year ago. Scotland chose to stay in the United Kingdom. Deal with it. 

 

It's up to the other parties to try and put forward a credible alternative to the SNP. A one party country suits Noone.

Don't think their will be another referendum in the next holyrood parliament , I expect one to be in the SNP manifesto for the next one 2021 election ? And if they do still hold power with a majority a referendum some point after then .

 

Unless off course the Tory Gov in London pushes Scotland towards it due to the major cuts coming .

But honestly I see a deal worked out between Cameron and sturgeon to get more powers transferred than the Smith plans , as long as both can be seen to have some sort of victory .
