The Rangers soap opera goes on and on.

Rangers need to get to grips with the idea that they are not huge anymore, to get that big again requires a sugar daddy who will underwrite the third world sized debt that will be generated. They are deliberately heading for Admin v2.0 but what happens next, the fans should be getting ready for a fans buy out and learn to cut their cloth accordingly, but that wont appease the masses who still have Billy Big time mentality. Plus post admin 2 they will be renting Ibrox. but seriously I can see King taking over in version 3.0 putting in another ?20m and it will be just frittered away on big spending, big squad and overpaid journeymen...but ho hum.

Its crazy. If Dave King was serious about investing, would he just give ?20m with no strings attached? Of course not, most likely to be in the form of a loan. A loan means it requires repayment, so say it was a 20 year loan, then Rangers would need to pay back ?1m a year (and thats only if it is interest free.) So for ?20m chucked in for now they would be tied down to reducing what they could do for the next 20 years, while not fixing leak of money, so they are a constant downward spiral. Then again it could be as an investor in the club where he owns so much of it, pays the ?20m but again without radical change it is just throwing money down the drain hoping that somehow it will allow them to be sustainable if they get into the champions league.

Point being, there is no easy way out of this for Rangers. They are not going back to the old times and they are destroying their club trying to reach that at the moment. King is the one they cling to, but there is no easy way to this. Even now after asking players for a 15% wage reduction the press are still reporting big name signings. They will get back to the premiership, but it will take a long time to reach the level Celtic are at. How they managed to lose money, with 40,000 crowds in the fourth and third tier of Scottish football is crazy.

This is what I can't get my head around. Shrewd signing on apappropriate wages and TTFKAR could have used the income from that fan base to get back to the top flight at a canter and have a decent war chest for when they got there.

The fact they have completely fecked it up pleases me no end.

What are the figures regarding Celtic, Rangers and Hearts annual turnover? Imagining we have the 3rd biggest turnover in Scotland.

Also, what is the ratio of wages/turnover for these 3 clubs? Just out of curiosity.

I'm also curious to know the average wages per week being paid to players by these 3 clubs. If anybody has the data on this.

Could go down to wire. Would it suit some people for them to be a day or hours away from administration like Celtic before Fergus McCann and then someone save the day and have all the power in return?

That's what was being implied in one of the comments below the Record story. Problem with that scenario is that if King really is planning to swoop in the the spivs know that so can keep their mitts on the stadium & other assets unless, and I think this is unlikely, King is willing to let them be fully liquidated and outside the leagues again with all the risks that entails. The fans would go absolutely nuts if he let that happen and then scooped them up but if he doesn't he has zero leverage.

Rangers are at 30%, that has been publicised, which by all accounts is where it should be in an ideal world.

Playing budget wages only. It was reported at 95% on this thread recently - even if the current board takes a big chunk of that there's still the wages for all the support staff & coaching staff to take account of which won't be small beer.

Is this not just the first team squad? Not including non playing staff

But if you go back to FF post about this a few pages back, it is a misleading figure.

Yes, just playing staff which is quite something if they are still flushing out ?1m a month, seems pretty poor for the CEO or what ever his title is asking the players to take a wage cut when they are only responsible for 30% of out goings.

In what way jig?

Rangers chose to highlight the "first team" wage budget at 30%. That's fine as far as it goes, but they now have 55 professional players. How many of them are classed as first team players?.

We hear wages to turnover ratios mentioned regularly, including Hearts having been in excess of 100% during the Vlad years. The accepted calculation for wages to turnover is the total wage costs within the club, including all players, management, coaching, back room, office staff, pension costs and NICs.

In Rangers last accounts (13 months) the total wage figure was ?17.943M with a Turnover figure of ?19.107M for a ratio of 94% (the first team wages were put at ?7.8M and 43% in 2012/13)

Comparable figures for Hearts, Rangers, Celtic for the last 5 years.

2013..... n/a...........94%...........47%

2012..... 95%.........n/a ............66%

2011..... 116%.......52%...........62%

2010..... 115%.......50%...........59%

2009..... 126%.......77%...........62%

Rangers and Celtic ratios go up or down depending on whether they made the CL group stages or not.

It seems that Damille Investments II didn?t want to hang onto their investment for very long. Their holding has gone down from 2M to 859,521 shares. Was probably part of the tranche purchased by River and Mercantile last week.

Just a few days to go and there has been no real transfer movements spoken about for Rangers.

I'm interested to see what happens over the next 10 days regarding player sales, loan out's, and contract termination's. This will give a good indication if Wallace has a real plan to turn around the club and this should be reflected in a share price movement.

. Going to be interesting - it would appear that they must sell someone to keep their heads just above water.

I don't think they can afford to disadvantage themselves by selling their stars.

It's a tough league down there apparently, just the same as the SPL it appears.

How can they be expected to compete on a level playing field with the teachers, bus drivers, bakers and firemen of League one?

I'm fully expecting a full back page Keith Jackson exclusive ahead of their key league one clash against the giants of Brechin City, where 'want away' Ibrox star Lee Wallace issues a 'desperate come and get me plea' to clubs to 'end his Ibroke hell'

With further commentary from Fat Salary complaining about the unfairness of unsettling players ahead of a key clash and the sheer audacity of clubs trying to steal his stars on the cheap.

The heartless 'The Rangers' board will be subsequently slammed in a following edition for throwing out an incredible ?50k offer and for standing in the way of a promising young laddies career. With guys like these in charge of our game no wonder the national team suffers...

Bid 1.4 Million & he's away. keeps newco rangers afloat for another month too.. The seethe from the hordes would be tremendous if he went..

Have heard on the grapevine through here, that ?1m to ?1.2m will be enough to see him go, but Forest will have to wait until Friday so that McCoist can save face by saying it was too good to turn down and they had no time left to sign a replacement.

Time will tell though.

Now Forest may go up and will always be around Championship play off place, but what a mistake by Lee not to TUPE out.

Did he though? His girlfriend was pregnant at the time, on really good money, close to home, easy job. If I could do that in my profession it's a no brainer!

Career prospect wise it's not harmed him a great deal either as he's still picked up international caps and is looking like moving to the championship now.

He gambled big time in terms of his career.

I don't think it would come as any sort of surprise that Wallace was picked as a strategic move by the SFA so as not to isolate the knuckle draggers further. Despite being his own man I think even Strachan was able to to fit Wallace in to work around the media clamour for more "Rangers treated badly" stories.

Hagar the Horrible

The DR have stated that Rangers have turned down a bit for Lee Wallace, So I spoke to some Forest fans and they said they are unaware for that bid, And have been actively perusing Jack Hobbs and Graham Dorrans but Leicester look to be winning the race for the former and West Brom want to hold onto the latter. but have not heard anything about any bid for Lee Wallace. This stinks of creating a fake interest and putting a fake price to sell and push up the price

How can the Huns possibly value him at any more than ?900K?

He cost them ?1.5 a few years ago when he was playing at a higher level and was a Scotland regular.

If anything his value will have halved.

And wont be drawn in by the assisted hype provided by the MSM in Scotland. in this case Sevco will blink first, Davis has other fish to fry. But the Nottingham Evening Post should go with a "Forest keen to end Wallace Ibrox hell", "Rangers Blocking Wallace Dream move"

I am stuck between a rock and a hard plce here.

Sell Wallace for less than ?900K and laugh at Sevco being treated like a diddy Scottish club.

or

Sevco/Sally refuse to sell as they value him at much more with the result they then go breasts skywards.

It really is a bit of a quandary

I'm quite sure this is a load of 2+2=5 however maybe.

- Stockbridge has received his pay off already

- The ?1m 'cash in bank' come April was based on either

- A significant player sale or

- The mystery ?2.5m lender coming up trumps.

All the spivs have gone and I can't see them coming up with finance now or it was indeed a Dave King promisary note that has been withdrawn as there is no guarantee the SFA or FCA will approve any direct involvement with either club or company.

Yep,

They have the fan base to survive administration and even liquidation. I think they will aim for a managed and timed admin route to get all the high earners on longer contracts off their books and start again. They are probably still 10 points or so lacking to be sure that their kids could guarantee winning tier 3, so I don't think it's imminent.

Problem they still and will always face is that to be as successful as their fans desire they need either the guarantee of CL football or write off investement every 2 to 3 years to compete with Celtic.

Mind you, I think Celtic aren't that far off a similar model soon.
