Loving this .. Hibs let their star striker go to Milwall for 1 million plus giving free seats in ER to any Millwall supporter that visits Edinburgh and immediately splash the cash on signing a 36 yr old fondler, by the name of Adam.

And wee Lee says "His craft and guile will help bring our young strikers through in the game. We look forward to working with him" Do we Lee ? Who's we exactly, your or someone else

Keep it coming ya Muppets 🤣

If Hibs are being linked with Walcott then I think that would be a quality signing. Cannot see it happening though.

They’ve signed Le fondre. The type of signing that could make them a few quid in years to come.  Really building the club with that one.

Getting in an experienced player to help the youngsters. Scores everywhere he goes. Said my pet hibby 🤡

Always liked ALF and he came good loads of times on a Saturday afternoon watching Jeff and the guys.  He's dead to me now though :(

Sam Lammers completes Rangers transfer as Michael Beale lands new striker

The attacker signed his £3.5million deal from Atalanta

bit late to the thread but have a feeling he will be a good player in this league. Lots of experience at the top level. Rangers going for it with this one.

as for clarkson to Aberdeen, looking forward to him becoming passive and having a huge dip in form as we have seen with many players in our league before. Fingers crossed this is a transfer that represents very poor value for money for the sheep.

Folk praising Aberdeen's record in the transfer market should remember that that we spent close to £20m redeveloping the stadium.

We're now in a position to start spending fees on players while they need to find £40m+ to replace their crumbling heap.

Definitely a factor, Arsenal spent over a decade paying for their new stadium, a decade in which they couldn't compete with the Man U's etc. due to the stadium financing. They're back in contention now.

Further back Rangers were out of contention for a decade too when they redeveloped Ibrox which helped facilitate the first Celtic 9 in a row. They had just paid that off when Souness was appointed.

Stadium investment is money well spent, it will provide a steady income stream while the sheep drain money away trying achieve the same thing. Putting the OF side I don't think it takes a lot of money to achieve what's required.

Most of the teams in the league have no transfer budget at all to speak of, all they do is sell not buy. You might say the EPL are shopping at Harrods, the OF at M&S while everyone else in the SPL is shopping in pound stretchers at best and more often in the freebie market.

Personally I think the best route if it's feasible is what Rangers do with a lot of their signings. They're signing a lot of multi million pound valued players for nothing at all in terms of a transfer fee, Bosmans.

So rather than spend millions on a transfer fee they're spending it on wages for the player. Then selling him on for a profit, Calvin Bassey classic example. Got him for free, payed him a good wage for a couple of years, punted him for 20 million.

The OF can attract such talent not just because of a relatively good wage but because they're almost guaranteed to be in Europe. These boys prove themselves there then they can be in line for a move to a major league.

Scotland should be presented to young prospects as an EPL shop window. You do well here, they will notice you.

Odd one on the face of it, even for them £3.5 million is a very large sum, and a 4 year contract for a striker who has reportedly scored something like 6 goals in about the last 3 years? They must know what they're doing throwing that kind of cash and contract around and he has always played at a high level. Bet he's on a good wedge too.

Nah, he returned to his parent club (Sydney FC) after the loan with Mumbai and has been there since. To be fair he had a decent record last year, 10 goals in 18 games.

Was a big favourite with Sydney fans in his time there and scored  lot of goals for them. Only played 18 games last season due to injury. Ideal replacement on the treatment bench for McGeady.

Did Neilson not use those two words to describe Grant when he signed? He definitely used the word guile.

Exactly. Now I think about it, they always stopped short of saying it was a full coup, was always ‘a bit of a coup’.

No way are they paying 3.5 million quid on anybody - delusional proved by their lack of signing Tillman for a fixed 5 million quid from bayern - no way hes turning up to skintbroke!

Skint?

They sold 2 players for about £30m last season on the back of a Europa final and then got £20-£30m from the ucl this season.

Some are in denial how far ahead financially the arse cheeks are.

“…Rangers were out of contention for a decade too when they redeveloped Ibrox which helped facilitate the first Celtic 9 in a row. They had just paid that off when Souness was appointed.”

Celtic won their sixth consecutive title in the year of the “Ibrox Disaster” in 1971 and the ground was finally redeveloped by 1981.

Having already won six titles, I think it’s stretching it a bit to suggest that Celtic’s subsequent three titles were won largely on the back of financial difficulties at Rangers.

He doesn’t score goals, for a striker that’s a bit of an issue 🙈

In 2021/2/ their turnover was £87.9m. And

Rangers, who will hold their AGM on December 6, also reported first-team player costs are up by £4.3m to £37.8,

in account this year their turnover was £103m. Can’t find a corresponding first team cost.

But you are right. At a minimum they are outspending is 5-1 .  Celtic will likely be even more.

it’s nearly impossible to really take it to them consistently. I think we’d need to triple our spending to even have an outside chance.

That only stopped because the government put restrictions on how many foreigners could be bought, cant see these others doing that.
