Tory Party splattered all over Westminster for the first time since 1964. Socialism spreads across London while the spectre of far right Nationalism infests the Parochials.

I'd like to understand the reasons behind why Labour have cut through down here in London but looked to have struggled badly to progress in the rest of England. It'll be interesting to see if they make any impact on the SNP up north. Have they started weighing the votes yet?

A combination of “long-Corbyn” and a predictable reluctance among the cultists to hold the lying POS to account has helped limit the damage. This Junta will be relatively satisfied by these results, until that is, the Met restart their fine frenzy coupled with the publication of the Sue Gray report.

Yet again, we, “move on”, but for how long?

Jeez James, libertarian to communist all in the one day! If it's the fact that he's authentic then I have a degree of sympathy for that. It's interesting to hear the winning and losing councillors  of all stripes talking like real people and giving honest assessments of how they perceive what has happened. Really nice to hear proper answer rather than scripted BS talking points.

He should stand aside and let Rayner loose - at least there would be a meaningful opposition, too much heavy lifting for that balloon Blackford to do on his own, Ed Davey is completely MIA

He couldn’t like Corbyns boots . He’s a disgrace to the Labour Party . Not seen any media about the election results as yet 👍 as you rightly say he has no personality or charisma and even worse no firm principles .

God save Edinburgh if it is left with an SNP-Green coalition in the council.

Seriously, if it's a change of council would they scrap the spaces for people nonsense?

I would hope so.

I know there are lots of other issues that are crap but that really pisses me off.

It seems to have annoyed a lot of people. The Conservatives definitely want rid of it but I'm unsure who else.

Yes indeed. I think Liberals will do very well in Edinburgh and perhaps make it into a partnership with the SNP, or even Labour if they can take some of the SNP seats. Liberals will take a healthy few off Tories.

Why do the candidates or their representatives stand outside the polling stations with their wee rosette's pinned to their chest?

Does anyone actually change their minds just as they reach the polling station due to some erse standing in the pissing rain with a badge on?

May do, heard a few people in the past saying they went to the polling station and moaning some of the parties couldn't even be bothered to show up, possibly more so with the undecided and switherers, all it takes is for one wee guy with a rosette to be nice to an old biddy to tip those scales .....

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-scotland-61310357

In Scotland, the first preference vote has now been declared for 15% of the wards in Scotland.

It looks as though the Conservatives are going to suffer perhaps an even bigger reverse north of the border than they have experienced in England.

Their share of the vote is currently down by six points, while Labour are up by two points. If this pattern continues then Labour will displace the Conservatives from second place for the first time in a Scottish election since 2016.

Among the pro-independence parties, the SNP are up by 1.5 points and the Greens are up by 2.5 points.

However it should be kept in mind that the SNP did not do particularly well in the 2017 local elections and the party seems to be suffering where the Greens are making a significant advance.

As south of the border, the Liberal Democrats are performing somewhat better than anticipated, with a two point increase in their share of the vote so far.

I remember one of them was kind enough to look after the pooch when we went in to vote once. Still didn't vote for their party though 😁

Did you listen to Oliver Dowden this morning on Sky trying to justify why keeping Johnson is a good thing.

Now that is a result I would like to see. :) Sadly, you probably mean councillors, but I'll take that in the meantime.

Frustrated to see Alba still struggling to make any sort of break through. Don’t know why they need to do to overcome things. 5% in one ward in Aberdeen I think which was about the highest so far.

Not good but people need cheaper foods and groceries

Convenience store chain McColl's has fallen into administration, putting more than 16,000 jobs at risk

McColl's, the convenience retailer, has appointed administrators but the co-owners of Asda are expected to agree a deal that would rescue the bulk of the company.

Sky's City editor Mark Kleinman, who had reported earlier on Friday that Morrisons was among interested parties, said the Issa brothers' EG Group was now waiting in the wings and a deal could be concluded later in the day.

McColl's said it took the decision to appoint PwC as administrator after its lenders objected to the potential outcome of a sale for them.

In council elections, why do people get excited about results outside their own council area.

I couldn't give a shit about anything but the Edinburgh council result
