The photos of the councillors is the most worrying aspect in all of this. Lumpen tatties with deviant eyes, the lot of them.

You getting confused with the cup final ticket thread?

In council elections, why do people get excited about results outside their own council area.

I couldn't give a shit about anything but the Edinburgh council result

Maybe they have family and friends that live in other council areas.

Plus its a Tory mantra to be Selfservative  .

Are you happy with the job that the Edinburgh Council are doing?

Hopefully the Lib Dems replace the SNP in Edinburgh council. Lib Dem/Labour council might work

It's great seeing the Tories lose...until you see their replacements are the Lib Dems.

Out of the fire and into the frying pan.

Labour looking like they are taking over from the Tories as the main opposition to the SNP up here.

So do we now need to launch a new thread titled, “More Labour Lies“? 😉

Ditch Salmond would be my guess

Honestly, I think they need to ditch the negativity. I’m sick to my back teeth of seeing Alba people ripping into the SNP. It comes off as bitter and must be off putting.

Definitely requires some thinking and soul searching I think. It’s not been a good run so far.

Looks like the Labour-Tory alliance could be losing overall control in Aberdeen. Will be interesting to see if the SNP forge an alliance with the Liberal Democrats because I doubt very much they'll be cosying up to Labour given the last few years of politicking in the city.

I'd like to understand the reasons behind why Labour have cut through down here in London but looked to have struggled badly to progress in the rest of England. It'll be interesting to see if they make any impact on the SNP up north. Have they started weighing the votes yet?

I'm putting it down to provincial racism and general ignorance.

There's a high correlation between the results in these local elections and the brexit vote.

Have a few gripes. I'm sure I'd have a lot more if there were Tory snakes running the show.

I'd be happy enough with a Labour/Lib Dem Council tbh.

Excellent. It will be a great structure for the fish to swim around in, providing environmental enrichment for them. How green and thoughtful of you!

Boris Johnson has admitted the Tories endured a “tough night” after suffering a string of losses in council elections but insisted he would not be deflected from his economic agenda.

APNI  in N.Ireland take first scalp.

Could be a shift from the usual green/orange political battles.

Didn't think about that as I knocked out a six-pack sat on the pier watching it bubble under. Thankfully I managed to snag half a dozen ducks to take home with the can holder. Dinner sorted.

Very green of you to consider the ducks too.

Me i prefer  Chinese duck from my local Chinese takeaway..

SNP loses a seat to the Lib Dems in the Leith Walk ward. Not surprisingly as the area is an absolute cluster**** for the second time in recent memory. Quite a tight vote as well

Joined by the capital's SNP candidates including group leader Adam McVey, Ms Sturgeon took a walk along the promenade earlier this week, stopping to chat and take selfies with locals in a final push for votes before the polls open on Thursday.

As usual the Lib Dems destroy the other parties in Almond ward. 8,325 votes out of 13,909 votes cast. Neither Labour or the Greens broke 1k and the Tories just squeezed past it by 40 votes.

Moray's an interesting one. The final result is Tories 11, SNP 8, Labour 3, Independent 2, Green 1, Lib Dem 1. It was previously run by an administration formed by the Conservatives and independents.

Those who shout loudest and all that.

Unrelated, the reduction of cars would be good imo. Any city I've been to that has minimal ICE vehicles cutting about centrally has been very pleasant. Linked to that point I was surprised that there aren't more electric buses in Edinburgh when I was up recently.
