Council elections 2022

Wasn't sure if there was an appropriate thread to pop this into, so decided to start a separate one.

Quite glad this election is here as I find people are more open and broad minded with who to vote for in a local election. The Unionist/Nationalist issue is also less apparent (mercifully), although I still expect the SNP to dominate this election nationwide.

I personally hope the SNP-Labour administration in Edinburgh is booted into touch as they have made an absolute mess of the city.

So, who is everyone going to vote for? What issues are the greatest that you face in your ward? Have you encountered or spoken to anyone on the campaign trail? Are you even bothered?

The SNP and  Labour have had thier chance and messed up .

Lib Dems and Greens agree with a lot of the decisions that piss me off which

leaves me with the Tories .

Could never vote for them nationally but locally they seem a bit more normal than the others.

I really hope people separate local and national issues .

This is what local elections are all about...

But General Elections also provide some great content...

Cameron Rose helped stymie an unwanted development in my neighbourhood. Will be through gritted teeth, but will be ticking the Tory box for the first time in my life.

Met him the other week, actually. Seemed a decent chap.

This seems to be a common theme. I have spoken to some SNP members who are pissed off at the council so will vote Tory.

Stop ruining another thread . The OP is asking a respectful question , no need to be going off your head about it and blowing a gasket

It certainly can and in my ward it’s a strong possibility that Tories will be in again . Hopefully the SNP candidate gets the boot 🥾

Sadly no independent candidates in my ward. The quicker the current incumbents are voted out the better though. Could definitely see the Tories doing well.

What mess have they bothed made of the city??

Also the Tories can ram their "all in it together "con right up their sun don't shines.

The Selfservatives aint and never will get my vote. How any working class people can vote for them is beyond me.

There is only one man and his party that have increased the SNP vote up here and thats Boris and his party..

Who was it that was seriously claiming a certain percentage of the pub he was in last night would vote Tory? Were they banned?

Like he went round every person in that pub and got into a political conversation with them all, and he never took a beating 😂

I'm getting that same vibe from NTL

You have though . You do it frequently and it’s a ploy of yours to stifle discussion . Respectful discussion . I’m not having any part of it . It’s changed days for me . I’m not “ reacting” !

There is an Independant in my ward, that's who's getting my vote, imo none of the other candidates deserve my vote, notwithstanding some of them aren't even local, they've been drafted in from other areas.  As this is a local council election then I'm voting for a local person, someone who understands local issues, not someone who couldn't get elected somewhere else outside the area and have now been sent to see if they can win in another area, feck them, local candidates all the way for me.
