Best option is to head to the Orient Express Station at Sirkeci Station and take the Marmaray underground under the Bosporus to Asia, get off at after 3 stops at Söğütlüçeşme, walk to the stadium 1km

And direct flights available from Edinburgh with Turkish Airlines, 4 hr 25 min flight time, for just over £200, depending...

Turkish are a great airline imo. Flew back from Istanbul with them to Edinburgh just over a week ago.

That'll be easy after a few pints

The ferry is much more fun!  or just stay in Kadikoy itself (where the stadium is)

Late goal for Ferencvaros to send them through.

Looks like Slovan are going to play Olympiacos. Didn't think i'd see Olympiacos lose to Maccabi Haifa though

Still half an hour to play in Athens. Plenty time for drama yet.

If we were to end up with an away leg in Turkey I'd much rather it was in Constantinople.

Hoping for a trip Byzantium myself.

Go out on a limb here and say this is it. Confirmed 7 potential pairings for us.

Shkupi/Shamrock Rovers

Zurich/Linfield

Maribor/HJK Helsinki

Malmo/Dudelange

Olympiacos/Slovan Bratislava

Slovacko/Fenerbahce

AEK Larnaca/Partizan

One of the first 4 please. All winnable. I think we’d probably not be strong enough for the bottom 3. Olympiacos losing has really messed things up 😂

Full Europa League Play off round draw - 2nd August 2022.

Priority One

Gent

Austria Vienna

Hearts

Omonia

Sivasspor

Dnipro

Silkeborg

Priority Two

Maccabi Haifa/Apollon Limassol

Qarabag/Ferencvaros

Ludogorets R/Dinamo Zagreb

Sheriff Tiraspol/Plzen

Bodo Glimt/Zalgiris

Crvena Zvezda/Pyunik

Priority Three

Malmo/Dudelange

Linfield/Zurich

Shamrock Rovers/Shkupi

Maribor/HJK Helsinki

Olympiacos/Slovan Bratislava

Priority Four

AEK Larnaca/Partizan

Slovacko/Fenerbahce

Worth remembering theres no county protection so Omonia can still draw AEK Larnaca/Partizan and Sivasspor can still draw Slovacko/Fenerbahce.

Said before I even looked at who we might get months ago I had a gut feeling it would be Partizan.

Looking at the potential fixtures I'm wondering if that hunch will be correct.

Please please don't let us play Malmo. Actually bought a Malmo top after they emptied Rangers out last August. Between knocking out both the uglies and thumping the wee team in the last few years I've grown a hell of a lot of love for them.

Thought Police

Slightly irritating that we know the teams in the draw but have to wait until Tuesday. Could just do it tomorrow.

Winnability, we’d want Shkupi/Shamrock or Maribor/HJK ties. Also be favourites against Dudelange or Linfield but likely they would be knocked out.

Glamourwise, Fenerbahce is the standout to me. Olympiakos a close second.

Been to 1FC Slovacko for a Scotland U21 game, they play in Uherske Hradiste, a 3 hour train ride from Prague. Nice little town (not too many pubs), decent ground.

Shkupi will likely play at the national stadium in Skopje (the place is a decent night out), been a couple of times, same with Slovan Bratislava (new stadium).  Been to a few of the others but not necessarily the stadiums they play in,

Slovan Bratislava would be a good away trip and fairly easy to get to.

Nice Tynecastlesque stadium as well.

There's about 7 from that list I'd fancy our chances against.

5 or 6 of them likely heading out though 🤣

Weird Football fact - the K in PAOK Salonica and in AEK Athens both refer to Constantinople

But the K in AEK Larnaca doesn’t 🤔

Yeah, think I got way ahead of it, thinking we'd get Linfield or similar

Now we just want some team we can skelp if we play very well

Don't fancy Olympiacos, Partizan, Fenerbahce or Zurich

Maribor, Malmo, Slovan Bratislava, HJK Helsinki, Slovacko & Shkupi can come ahead, I suppose

Shamrock Rovers, Linfield, Dudelange & AEK Larnaca can come right ahead 😄

So will the home leg be the first leg as we’re the priority 1 team or is it still random as is with any cup draw?
