The Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 and the Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987, require certain sports grounds to apply to the local authority for a 'safety certificate'. Generally this means sports grounds with a capacity for more than 10,000 spectators (designated stadium), or stands in sports grounds providing covered accommodation for more than 500 spectators (regulated stand). This is an ongoing process as sports grounds, like all other buildings, are subject to alteration and extension, particularly as sports grounds now also offer access for hospitality, conferences and use of the pitch area for non-sporting events. Guidance on the safety of spectators at sports grounds can be found in the 'Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds', fifth edition, published by the Stationery Office. The semi finals at Hampden only had very minimal space between fans did it not? Can’t we even just not sell tickets for two columns out of the 4th section and add a few more stewards down the steps? Is there no temporary but semi solid dividing materials we could use without “fencing” people off? JALBO
4.30pm count today. It's worth noting that the club released about 27 seats in lower G today, which I think is great news, after several years with an embargo on sales in that section. However, there were around 120 seats in the embargo, so whether these have been sold by the ticket office already (one poster on here suggested a friend had been able to purchase a seat in lower G before today), or whether we'll find some more seats in this section trickling through remains to be seen. Clearly, we're pretty much in new territory so far as ticket sales are concerned. I would speculate that the club will decide not to open Section K of the Roseburn for season ticket sales in order to keep 500 or seats available for walk-up supporters. I imagine Hearts have planned for this scenario, and will announce something in the next few days when we run out of seats in H and J. I don't think we can hit 16,000 until the hospitality season ticket sales start next week - we have less than 16,000 seats available in the sections that have been given over to regular season ticketers. But I would fully expect us to pass that mark once our hospitality friends are factored in. if you're hoping to pick up seats in one of the three usual stands, do keep looking. As I type this, I can see a further 7 seats have been released in lower G. Finally, the usual caveat - the club may have chunks of seats held back that we can't see....but we're definitely well past 15,000 and counting. At the time we could have had as many as we wanted however the caveat was that we had to pay them up front for the tickets then sell them. If we couldn’t it was our loss. That’s when we cut right back on the number of tickets we take. Since their rebirth things have changed a little because like us today they had a resurgence in season ticket sales five, six years ago and sold the seats that we would need if we wanted a bigger allocation. That’s why we are where we are. It’s similar at the other place in Glasgow.
