correct. Fans on here seem to have tunnel vision and base a players ability on the last club he was at and how that spell went. Ignoring a team of the season selection, 17 goals from midfield, number of games and his overall contribution. But aye he didnt do that well for Peterborough so must be crap. Caveman mindset

Would be like looking at Robbo’s form at Newcastle and not signing him because he had a crap season.

Jorge Grant isn't exactly getting the juices flowing tbh.

We should get a loanee from a big club like Liverpool, that will get the juices flowing.

You don't need to be bitten down there, one of the side effects of them biting you in males is a 4 hour stauner

I think this is largely nonsense, and the bit in bold a completely out of order slur on our players.

The reality is that we were operating with a small squad last season and had a lot of injuries towards the end of the season, meaning that several of our cup final line-up were either rushed back from injury and hadn't had a chance to train or play enough to regain anything close to full fitness, or were carrying knocks into the final because we hadn't been able to give them the rests they'd needed prior to the final as we didn't have the depth of squad to replace them.  Sevco on the other hand, had a huge squad, meaning they were able to switch things around as they needed. Indeed, only six of their starting lineup in the cup final had started the Europa League final on the Wednesday.

Finally, the idea that a team playing on a Wednesdays night would then be knackered the following Saturday was never anything other than wishful thinking on the part of many of our fans.  It's sad that several weeks later, some of our fans are still trying to use the idea as a stick to beat our coaching staff with.

I agree with this post and it explains the issues that we have to solve if we wish to compete at the top of the league.

It's as simple as that really and the poster you replied to fails to acknowledge that several of our players played through the pain barrier in the cup final.

It didn't work out but it wasn't for the lack of effort.

Was there not some tale about him which might be a myth but sounds like something we’d do back in the day

A very good international player called Husref Musemic scored against Scotland. Forget which country it was. Couple of months later and we’re offered Husref Musimic for a rock bottom deal, so we bite their hands off without really thinking about it. Lo and behold Husref Musemic duly rocks up, except it’s not THEE Husref Musemic, it’s another player with the same, apparently very common name.

Still scored a derby winner though

Funny if true I suppose. Could be urban myth.

Think it is just a myth.

He won the Yugoslav title the year before alongside Stoijkovic and Prosinecki among others.

Don’t write him off that would be unfair.

Without knowing figures on Grant, I imagine later in the window once bigger teams have their squads assembled there will be a fresh batch of players being offloaded to get your juices flowing.

The Lincoln forum raved about him, their player of the season. Sometimes moves dont work out, doesnt mean he wont be impressive

They were decent while Posh have struggled, might be ok in a team playing well, but maybe not a lad for when the chips are down. Cant pretend its the level I was hoping for though, but we shall see in good time

No danger

I knew they were venomous, but an unwanted 4 hour throbber  is worse fate than death

People saying that it's not possible to only sign players that are better than what we have. I understand completely that it's not that simple, however surely that has to be the aim. Yes we need a bigger squad. Signing players who are are an improvement on what we have clearly strengthens the first eleven. The players they're replacing, assuming you can keep them are squad players better than what we previously had. Win, win. Obviously it's a hard act but it should be what we're striving for.

its definitely not the worst around and the top 5 teams in my opinion would be challenging Scottish bottom six for sure. Despite the negative press around him, Connor Washington was the same - made the step up to Championship, even EPL but didnt cut it. Could see the talent he had. Some folk cant get their heads round the fact that one bad season doesnt mean bad player. His stats from Lincoln and Notts County alone should be enough to see what he would bring

Let's be honest it's how we get these guys.McKay out of the picture down south and he has been quality. It also doesn't seem to be going to be anywhere near the 750k price tag either.

Think it’s an urban myth but it was never clearly verified at the time.  I remember the goal and the size of him and that’s about it. Slightly less voluminous than Vanacek

Interesting, they don't look like peddlars of madness from their other stories but it does seem a bit of a guess.

Football Scotland = Daily Record. They just re-hash their football stories and stick them on another site so they can double down on clickbait ad revenue.

The story at the time was his brother was who we wanted but they sent us big Husref instead, I want it to be true because he still managed to score against the Hibs 😂

His brother was 42 at the time and had retired 5 years before Husref moved.

While that will no doubt be our aim, we will still be stronger so long as any signing is better than an existing member of the squad i.e Grant might come in and not be an automatic 1st choice but becomes a better option than McAneff off the bench, in that case whilst we've not improved the 1st 11 we have improved the squad.

As I said earlier in the thread, we're not talking about Popescu type squad players that will only get a game if 3 or 4 players ahead of them are injured, now our squad players will be expected to play their part as starters in a rotated squad, especially in the first half of the season with both the european games and the condensed fixture list due to the world cup

I'm sure most of his goals were penalties. Not exactly a big name but management must see him as an improvement on the likes of Macaneff in an area we have been lacking in for a while. We have enough holding midfield players, really hoping he's one that can get forward and do some damage in the top third of the pitch.

Tbf I can't write him off as I said we should sign Grant on last summers transfer thread when his contract was expiring at Lincoln. 🤣

He's a good player, he'll be competition for McKay but he's not going to make us better in that position.
