Heard a few English teams in for Neilson also, including Leicester. City.

Would be fantastic for him, gets to not even make the bench and be loaned to lower leagues for 3 years and generally forgotten about.

Hope he has his head screwed on and comes here.

Possible comings and goings in next few days include Aussie centre-back in, Poland based centre-back in,  Belgium based striker in and an Irish full-back out. Baseless rumours or itk - who knows? We are certainly moving freely on the squad building front.

So Rowles, unknown Polish based player and Shankland in. Smith out?

Rick Sanchez

I see Leicester had a 500,000 bid accepted for Neilson last year but he turned them down so he could get game time.

Sounds like a good deal. Hopefully no development fee and definitely no sell on 🤞

Personally could see Smith moving and I don’t think we’d stand in his way.

He’s unlikely to be a starter next season and may want to play as much as he can next year.

Could see him going to somewhere like a Bolton or a Fleetwood for regular football.

Someone on here said a few days ago he has an offer from MLS.

This is a funny one as we obviously offered a years extension but has had injury problems and not a starter now.

Don't know,  Halkett has become quite a polished centre back

CB based in Poland doesn't mean he's definitely Polish, just that he plays in Poland.

If it's actually true anyway.

Scott Wilson will be glad he's retired if this is the Poland-based centre back.

Would happily take him purely based on the fact he looks like a pirate.

That and his name will be extremely easy to make into a song.

I thought Pete was gone after taking a long time to sign, delighted for the big man gives us experience and settled continuity going forward

Really - where did you hear that?   That would be a significant statement with that level of outlay.

Having lived in Greece. I actually find this very easy to say.

If we're signing him, he will simply be known as Phil.😎

Not 'Big Phil' then?  Disappointing...not for me.

Surely we aren't in the running at that price? Our record transfer fee paid for a player is £850k!

Hahahaha , absolutely zero chance we are paying anywhere near that .

If that's the price quoted forget it as far as we are concerned

Looks a mean b'stard, but a very balanced one with his matching earrings.😃

His name should fit nicely into the "We-are-un-beat-able" ditty from 17 years ago :glorious:

This.

Absolutely mental to think otherwise.

FWIW I can't see us paying anything near that for Simms but if we were to start spending that kind of money, a player like Simms is the kind we should be spending it on.

Easily get our money back. Pay less and a 50% sell on?

Uncle Buck

I think we’ll spend a million pound plus on a player soon, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was Simms.

IF that is the asking price for Simms, I say pay it, as long as wages wouldn't break the pay structure. Plenty money coming in next season including maybe that amount from the Hickey sell on...if he is transferred.

Money from Hickey could cover any Simms deal and have change left over at the end for the day it's money we didn't really expect to get Simms could end up going for triple that 1.6m. gutted we lost out on recardo fuller all then years ago he would of made us a few quid back then if we signed him permanent

Don't think so. We know what we are getting with Simms, a young up and coming English player with a great sell on potential. We have to move with the times and realise that we're going to have to pay that amount to get a quality striker, otherwise we're just fishing about in the lower leagues hoping someone will come good.
