Even if we decide we can afford the fee, what would the wage look like? No idea what he'd be on there or what he could get elsewhere.

Aye right !

Simms around 1:3 last season.

Paterson 1:7 last season in league 1

Simms young and possible sell on potential

Paterson career on a downward trend.

Your having a laugh surely:facepalm:

Possible comings and goings in next few days include Aussie centre-back in, Poland based centre-back in,  Belgium based striker in and an Irish full-back out. Baseless rumours or itk - who knows? We are certainly moving freely on the squad building front.

Błazej?

😍

Too old? Perhaps... but eternally handsome.

The thing to remember about signing Simms is what will probably be prohibitive is not the transfer fee but his wages. Think Joe Savage said that a few weeks back.

He's not actually having a laugh, he's just got utterly horrendous opinions.

Rick Sanchez

I'd offer 200k and a sell on for Shankland and try and loan a first choice striker for the season.

I'm sure our man Lancefield will have a suggestion or two.

Aye, 1 million pound players want 1 million pound player wages.

The chat is that Chris Mueller big wage at Hibs became the bench mark for other players resigning. So even though he’s gone, his legacy will be players at Hibs are on far higher wages then they should.

When you consider we have only lost 1 player this summer for free this summer when we had Souttar, Haring, Kingsley, Gordon and Halkett all in their last year of their contract at the start shows you how well those at the club are doing building a team.

Very good point. Excellent work by the board and the football management team.

I think it shows that Hearts are offering a healthy increase in remuneration for the players who Robbie regards as being critical to our growth as a force in Scottish football.   As contributors to FoH, we can give ourselves a pat on the back for being partly responsible for that.

I'd never heard of the lad Neilson, but if he's attracting interest from the EPL it would be quite a feather in our caps if we can persuade him that his career will benefit by coming to Tynecastle for a few years.

Exactly, thats when problems happen. You cant suddenly throw big wages at a player and not expect others in the team who are important players not to start saying they should get paid more.

Surely we aren't in the running at that price? Our record transfer fee paid for a player is £850k!

I did wonder why we announced Harings extension in the early evening. Must be to keep tomorrow free for something major

I know, but it's a massive outlay for 1 player. I would imagine his wages would be pretty high also.

Exactly this.  It’s going to be the most intriguing window for years as we’re in uncharted territory.    Names so far are pleasing and will strengthen the squad and hopefully the 1st 11,   but I think we’ll see a couple of stand out, marquee signings this summer.

Indeed. Paying £1.6m for him and he ain’t signing for £5k a week.

fantasy stuff folks. Absolute fantasy.

Think the neilson transfer is more likely especially since United already announced his departure

Be unlike a poster to chuck a hand grenade in, then **** off from the thread.

It hardly ever happens, tbf.

Agreed,   some qualification or context would be welcome…no hint of source given so major pinch of salt I reckon.  Time will tell.

People still calling for Lawrence ****ing Shankland

We're not going to be playing Airdrie and Dumbarton in Europe, so why the hell are we still after a player who was only ever good against teams like them?

We have an accomplished and ambitious board who are managing us brilliantly.  Wouldn't be surprised if we paid £1m for a player but doubt it would be Simms.

I called for him as a backup striker.

Our season is a lot longer than 8 games that will be done by November.

Would be very disappointed if we signed him. Nowhere near the standard required.

Unfortunately if that's the price for Simms I can see him ending up in Glasgow. Quite a bargain for them and stops us taking him on loan.

Would love us to speculate but we would probably need to give Ellis a big signing on fee to compensate for wages within our current wage structure.

Defo worth the 1.6 but no way agree to 25% sell on fee.

£10k a goal ought to cover it.

Tom Hardy’s Dug

A starting position of £1.6m, sell on etc.

Its interesting.

Its a test of where we want to go/how quickly.

We know him, we know he works in the league, we know he can only get better…

I’d be exploring this very closely if I was Savage.

High price but possibly as low risk a transfer as you might get.

Some levels of delusion on here tonight btw. Someone drops a 1.6m quote from nowhere and people think we're going to smash our highest transfer fee paid by over 600k.

Not. A. Chance.

I'd be gobsmacked if we paid 1.6m for anyone tbh.

It's going to happen if we keep improving. We do have the cash at moment. 800k over 2 years and knock it down to 15% sell on and deal.
