Corstorphine Jambo
Wishful thinking on my part, but I wonder if Chelsea would be considering loaning out Billy Gilmour for another year? Yes, there may be more obvious clubs for him to go to - but no harm in asking! For me, someone dictating in the middle of the park, really bringing the wing backs into play, is what we’ve not had in a long time and I think Gilmour would fit the bill. Would not say that any of the other players Woodburn, GMS or Ginelly have made a massive difference either. I think the reason people are posting about it is because it is topical since he has decided to complete a move elsewhere bringing a close to the matter. Doubt it is a deliberate attempt to annoy you or anyone else. He was in direct competition with Woodburn. Absolutely the correct decision to give him a shot and let Walker go when you look at the big picture.

Saying that seeing him in training is not a good basis for offering him a contract is nonsense and as it is a public fans forum, one should be prepared for such nonesense reasoning to be called out without getting in a lather. Obv that doesn't mean he's a better player than Ransay and only happened cos of who he played for but that's part of the answer. Both good players from what I've seen. Yeah, its good to see so many talent right backs coming through for Scotland (to compliment all the left backs.) Patterson as you say played in Europe and for Scotland. Plus playing for Rangers (despite their many losses) means that Rangers have more financial clout to hold off for a much bigger amount. My only concern for Ramsey is that he gets caught in the reserve level of Liverpool and doesn't get regular game time like he did for Aberdeen. Has anyone seen anything that talks of Liverpools plan for him?

He would be our biggest earner if we brought him in, even paying 50% of his wages but wonder if we're prepared to stretch our budget a bit with the money coming in from Europe, our cup run, and likely increased season ticket sales. The success of Simms will maybe make EPL clubs consider us as a good option for loaning their players out to, particularly with guaranteed European football. Arfur
Shame Jamie is leaving - I think he had plenty more to offer Hearts. As for the little boy Woodburn who masquerades as some kind off football player we should absolutely not be looking to waste any more money on this empty jersey. Baring 2 matches when he has been on the pitch we have effectively been down to 10 men. Purchasing a block of wood would probably make a more sound investment (and would probably be more effective if we put it on the pitch)

I'm probably 50/50 on him. He'll be 31 by the time he kicks a baw next season, likely a 2y deal so 33 at the end of it. Looked like he was towing a caravan against Rangers but then he's just back from an injury so that's understandable in his first game back. He's obviously a very good player - is very composed, unselfish, clever, tricky, and scores the odd goal - and his pedigree is almost 2nd to none in the league at the moment in terms of playing at the top. He's done UCL, he's done international football, basically done it all. Also thinking about wages. Wouldn't be surprised if he was on £15k a week at Celtic so he would come to Hearts as a top earner and I'm wondering if he'd be reliable enough and ultimately if he would be worth doing so. Also thinking he's bound to have a good couple of seasons left in the tank, so would he maybe be able to find a club down south or in MLS or something where he could still earn a decent wage as BigO suggests. Lastly, this has Aberdeen all over it lol. And they will beat us for wages if it comes to it because they're known for stretching things a bit to land someone. We on the other hand will stick hard and fast to our wage structure and I doubt would make an exception for someone like Forrest. Like I say, 50/50. A handful of pros and a handful of cons. Having 1y left on his deal changes things then; and in that case if they are looking to loan him out I would definitely put our hat in the ring as long as they don't want his full wage paying. Could be very useful to us in EL/ECL since he's been there and done that in terms of European opposition.

Yes, you can spend that dosh, and £6M additional spread into say 3 years player budget in Scotland is a lot. However, I think where we're at is hugely sustainable increased player budget. A bit hinges on getting euro money each year, but I just feel we're in such a strong position to pull away. Others like Hibs and Aberdeen are all of a sudden needing rebuilds and need to catch us, but don't have the business grounding we do to do so (which is how we caught them when we'd made a tit of it). I know nought of Aberdeen's finances tbf and maybe they've plenty to chuck about. Their wagebill has certainly been reasonably hefty the last decade. They also need a lot of new players. That money will need spread across a number of players, whereas our WARCHEST can be a bit more focused.
